SuperScript Tuesday: RNC Convention Day 2 Prelude

Well, as Jonathan has just noted, tomorrow is the first full day of the GOP hijinks in St. Paul. Here's the current lineup as published on their official site (still missing Bush's reinstated address, per ABC reports - we'll see who gets bumped):

Former Gov. Mike Huckabee (Ark.)
Former Gov. Tom Ridge (Pa.)
U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn (Okla.)*
Former U.S. Sen. Fred Thompson (Tenn.)
House Republican Leader John Boehner (Ohio)*
U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn (Tenn.)*
U.S. Rep. Luis Fortuño (Puerto Rico)*
U.S. Rep. Adam Putnam (Fla.)*

--------------

No idea what the asterisks mean.

Observation: a lot of "former" officials are speaking. Double-dip in Florida, a key state. Also in Tennessee, perhaps not quite so up for grabs.

The theme is "Reform" and the tagline "The Original Maverick Who Challenges The Status Quo." This oughta be good, delivered in the name of "My staff will have to get back to you on how many houses I own" McCain.

ET Spouse is taking ET Daughter to H.S. orientation solo, so I'll be full-time on C-Span bringing you all the wince-inducing, cringe-able lowlights.

----------

Tuesday AM Update: Apparently Rudy's speaking slot has been cancelled/postponed to make way for Dubya. And, yes, I'm stocking up on the raw caffeine, No-Doz and periodic electric shocks to keep me awake through the forthcoming Festival of Hypocrisy.

----------

Tuesday Noon Update: The theme has been changed to "Service," with the new tagline "The Courage And Service of John McCain." (Hmm - guess they didn't vet the schedule, either.) And the only names left from the original speakers' roster are now Thompson and Boehner:

President George W. Bush (via satellite)
First Lady Laura Bush
U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman (Conn.)
Former U.S. Sen. Fred Thompson (Tenn.)
U.S. House Republican Leader John Boehner (Ohio)
U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman (Minn.)
U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann (Minn.)
Robert M. "Mike" Duncan, Chairman of the Republican National Committee
Jo Ann Davidson, Co-Chairman of the Republican National Committee and Chairman of the 2008 Republican National Convention Committee on Arrangements

Speaking of Bachmann, if you haven't already seen it, James Carville (of whom I'm not normally a fan) takes her apart on Larry King. Just looking at that woman's vapid gaze and pasted-on smile gives me the Stepford-Wife creeps.
