Ted Nugent Loves Slaying Pigs with His Machine Gun.

I don't even know how to comment on this.

“I took my machine gun in the helicopter — in the Texas hill country – me and my buddy ‘Pigman’ … his name is ‘Pigman’ – I’m the swine czar. I killed 455 hogs with my machine gun. I did it for Bill Maher and all those other animal rights freaks out there.”

To be fair, Nugent does take all the dead pigs over to the homeless, but I damn sure hope that all the shells and other crap is filtered and fished out of those carcasses before they make their way to a Saint Vincent DePaul's homeless shelter-type institution!  I would really want to know why a man like Ted slaughters over 400 hogs from a helicopter using a machine gun, but that would be like peering into the mind of a deranged sociopath.

Shut the f*^k up, Ted Nugent!

I've not really made any political statements in the last few months, and this is mostly due to the busy time in my life at the moment. However, I want to keep writing and making observations in the world of politics for BAD, and I will make more of an effort to share my thoughts in a fair, balanced and nuanced way, as I always have. Ok, i'm going to continue to be the young liberal with a sailor's mouth, but I do get points for trying, right?

Anyway, let's get onto it: Unless you've just awaken from a 24-hour coma, you all know that yesterday was the re-inauguration of President Obama. I'll have more of my own thoughts about what I saw tomorrow, but for right now, let's just say not everyone was pleased that he's still the President of the United States. In particular - former rock star, turned rabid right-wing moron and gun nut,  2nd Amendment defender and conservative commentator Ted Nugent. You see, after President Obama called for an assault weapons ban and for universal background checks on registered gun owners, among other actions taken just last week, many gun enthusiasts and advocates for the 2nd Amendment saw potential reasonable gun laws  aimed at preventing more horrific massacres like the one at Newtown, Connecticut as a sign that the federal government was coming for their handguns, hunting rifles, pistols, shotguns, ammo rounds,  bullets and magazine clips. If you're familiar with Nugent's views on current events and politics, then you'll know that he explains his position on gun rights in a rational, reasonable way and in no way does he go off the rails and resorts to childish, schoolyard insults and all but threatens the Office of the President of the United States by using incendiary-charged rhetoric like how gun enthusiasts like him need to "fix" the fact that he's President.

Wait a minute.........
The president of the United States goes to the Vietnam Memorial Wall and pretends to honor 58,000 American heroes who died fighting communism and then he hires, appoints and associates with communists. He pretends to pay honor to men who died fighting communism, and then he hangs out with, hires and appoints communists. He is an evil dangerous man who hates America and hates freedom. And we need to fix this as soon as possible.
Uh, Ted -- even if you and your ilk did rise up and decided to take up arms against the homeland, you do realize that the President would have the authority to send in soldiers to put an end to the rebellion, then have the remaining survivors tried for treason and more than likely, either end up incarcerated in a federal prison for the rest of their days or face the rope. It's bad enough that this debate has been sullied by the NRA and their ad on using Obama's children as political cannon fodder, we don't someone like you dragging it further down into the mud with your talk calling for an armed rebellion against the government.

America has offically jumped the shark

A few months ago, after ESPN spent an hour kissing the Akron Hammer's ass, Count Istvan said this:

Count Istvan said...
you know the saying about the straw and the Camels back? Well this is it. An Hour dedicated to King Lebrick's Ego. America is too far gone. We ain't comin back from the brink folks. This was the jumping of the shark. Next will be the three hour special to announce Pau Gasol's bowel movements.
July 8, 2010 10:19 PM

The Count was wrong about that. This is the jumping of the shark that we won't come back from.

Paramount Pictures has made a deal to turn Justin Bieber's life story into a 3D feature biopic. Davis Guggenheim, the Oscar-winning director of An Inconvenient Truth, is negotiating to direct. The film doesn't have a title, but Bieber will play himself in the film. The pic will be sprinkled with performances from his current concert tour. The film will come out February 11, 2011 on Valentine's Day weekend. Manager Scooter Braun and Island Def Jam chairman L.A. Reid will produce the film.
Yes. The suits in Hollywood have come down with Bieber Fever, or more accurately, the money he can rake in just on appearance alone.

But wait, there's more!

This comes as Bieber made a deal with Harper-Collins for a memoir about his life.
A fucking book on his life, and a 3D movie biopic.

God help us all.

Ramblings on a Saturday night

This is my rant on an encounter I had at a grocery store as I was in the checkout aisle. There's not much of a point than to say why the fuck do we care? Why do we pour so much time and energy into the reading into the lives of the rich and famous? If you could, also leave a comment at Jonathan's Corner; please and thank you!

________________________________________________________________________

A few nights ago, I make a quick run across the street to Vons off on Canyon Plaza. As I'm putting my items on the conveyor belt, I scan the pop trash mags next to the M&M's and Trident gum packs.

One mag headline had the star of The Bachelorete, Vienna, talking about how much of a jerk the winner and "lover" (allegedly) Jake was towards her once the cameras stopped rolling. I guess someone forget to tell her that actually falling in love with the "winner" is a no-no. I mean, the big-wigs at ABC have to keep the reality series going with the likable jilted lovers looking for happiness, and the stuck-up fame whores looking to keep their faces on E! News every night.

Another mag had one of the stars of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse on the cover, and when I read the captions Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson, I almost immediately looked to the next mag on the stand. I'm sure Lautner is a pretty cool dude, and i've seen some interviews of him on late-night TV where he comes off as a charming guy, but I can't wait until this whole Twilight-fad joins Pokemon, Hannah Montana, boy bands, and Heidi and Spencer in the trash bin of pop culture history. I've had enough about hearing endless debates between Team Edward and Team Jacob and whether or not Pattinson and his co-star, Kristen Stewart are dating.

The last magazine I skimmed over is something I still can't fully comprehend: a magazine devoted to Canadian teen sensation Justin Bieber. From which celebrities find him adorable, to his secret tattoo, to his clothing style, it covered just about every aspect you could think of on the kid. And then there was this section I found honestly pathetic: how your boyfriend can look like Justin......page 72. Am I the only person who finds that disturbing? Why would you want your boyfriend to look like male jailbait?

More to the point: why do we, as a society, place so much emphasis on popularity, on who's "in" or what's "out"? Allow to steal a quote from the Denver-based folk/alternative band DeVotcKa: "If you win the rat race, if you come in first place / Then a rat is all you will be." If we're this shallow and vapid, that we have to look a certain way to impress groups of people, or believe that if we just do this we'll feel accepted amongst the sea of same, then we're only lying and deceiving ourselves, and effectively, slowly destroying our individuality for the sake of vanity.

On Lady Gaga

Confession: I don't see the huge appeal in Lady Gaga. Yes, she dresses uniquely wherever she goes and that makes her front page news for People and Us Weekly; and yeah, she has a slew of hits that have reached no.1 several times over, but I just have to raise an eyebrow when people say that she's original, or that her stuff is new and fresh. Don't be fooled, people: we've seen Lady Gaga before. She was Madonna in a past life...the 1980's. From the crazy wardrobe choices, to the dance pop hits, its the Material Girl in a shiny new wrapper.

What the fuck????

Found this picture on the Huffington Post of pop singer Lady GaGa (yes, that's her name) wearing a jacket with an ensemble of Kermit the Frogs stitched on.

In a related story, somewhere Bijork is thinking, "Why didn't I think of wearing that?"

There are many examples of her 'unique' fashion style, including her apprentice on Friday Nights with Jonathan Ross.

One more reason to love Megan Fox

Besides that she's very, very (very) attractive, she's now told right-wing America to drop dead.

The "Transformers" bombshell-cum-uninhibited philosophizer also contemplates -- reluctantly -- what she would say to Megatron to keep him from destroying the world. "I'd barter with him," she muses to the July issue Total Film UK, "and say instead of the entire planet, can you just take out all of the white trash, hillbilly, anti-gay, super bible-beating people in Middle America?

Did I forget to mention that she hates the Mouse as well?

I love this woman.

If only some wild animal ate Heidi and Spencer...

Then I wouldn't have to listen to their nonsense. Here they are on NBC's new "reality" TV show "I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!" praying with Mrs. Blagojevich.

She got emotional defending his track record as governor and talking about the cost of the scandal on her family, to which Spencer said he would have voted for Blago for president given the chance and called them "the Heidi and Spencer of politics."

Following the Rod Blagojevich defense portion of the show, Heidi and Spencer called over Patti for a joint prayer to Jesus. "I pray that the truth will be revealed.. and they will be delivered from this evil."

Your husband my have done good in the State of Illinois, but the fact remains that he's an out-and-out scumbag who got caught trying to sell Obama's vacant Senate seat to the highest bidder.

More to the point, why in God's name are these two attention whores famous? Why do we keep giving assholes like Heidi and Spencer praise when they deserve our silent contempt?

I don't think Sean Penn gives a shit either way, Billo

In a non-issue story today, Billo is boycotting two-time Oscar winner Sean Penn's movies.

THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER: ARE THERE ACTORS WHOSE POLITICAL OPINIONS DISTURB YOU SO MUCH YOU WON'T SEE THEIR MOVIES?

O'Reilly: Just Sean Penn

THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER: SOMEONE WILL READ THAT AND ACCUSE YOU OF ENCOURAGING A NEW BLACKLIST ERA.

O'Reilly: Not at all. He's a great actor, and if you hire him, you'll get a good performance. I'm just not going to give a guy who gives aid and comfort to people like (Iran president Mahmoud) Ahmadinejad, Hugo Chavez and Saddam Hussein, when he was alive, my 10 bucks. That's my right as an American.

Jason Bourne Sounds Off On James Bond

Apparently, Matt Damon is no fan of James Bond.

"They could never make a James Bond movie like any of the Bourne films," Damon says scornfully. "Because Bond is an imperialist, misogynist sociopath who goes around bedding women and swilling martinis and killing people. He's repulsive."

Open Thread: Matt vs. Tom on the Today Show

Tomorrow on the Today show, Matt Lauer interview Tom Cruise for the first time since their last talk in which Tom basically made himself look like an ass.

Here's the memorable video:

And here's his rant on Scientology (its right up there with Steve Munsey pimping the Old Testament for money video).

Hasselbeck shills for Palin and the RNC

Come on, Elizabeth Hasselbeck, you're smarter than this; parroting the same talking points like a ventriloquist dummy.

Late Edit: I'll have my thoughts on the rally, Hasselbeck stumping for Palin tomorrow.

Matt Damon: Palin 'Like a really bad Disney movie'

Ouch.

"I think there's a really good chance Sarah Palin could become president, and I think that's a really scary thing... I think the pick was made for political purposes... Do the actuary tables and there's a one out of three chance, if not more, that McCain doesn't survive his first term and it'll be President Palin... It's like a really bad Disney movie. The hockey mom, you know, 'oh, I'm just a hockey mom'... and she's facing down President Putin... It's totally absurd... it's a really terrifying possibility... I need to know if she really think that dinosaurs were here 4,000 years ago. I want to know that, I really do. Because she's gonna have the nuclear codes.

Who gives a shit who Angelina Jolie endorces?

Seriously, people.

It may seem as if most entertainment industry figures are aligning with Barack Obama and just a few with John McCain, but there are still a handful of famous names who are still on the fence. And both campaigns are well aware of one star who stands out among the undecideds: Angelina Jolie.

Both campaigns have reached out to her, apparently to court her support. But in a statement to Variety provided by political adviser Trevor Neilson, Jolie says that she is waiting to make up her mind.

Here are a few of the bone-headed comments I've read.

My opinion of Jolie would drop like a rock if I believed she were truly undecided. But I don't believe it for a second. She's playing the media so that she gets some press when she finally endorses Obama. Remember that her father wrote an overwrought op-ed last week outlining the reasons that we should all fear Barack Obama. I think Angelina wants to very publicly take the opposing view.

Ajita See Profile I'm a Fan of Ajita I'm a fan of this user

There's a difference between charitable philanthropy and creating truly equal platforms for everyone to compete in the system. Republicans are big supporters of charity because it makes them feel good to give away a tiny portion of their vast wealth. Liberals believe in making the system fair for everyone to have a humane existence without losing their sense of self-worth. Angelina Jolie, Madonna and many more celebrities are of the former type. They can do much more good by endorsing a political system that creates equal opportunity to all and prevent the vast disparity of wealth that allows for their own indulgent lifestyles, but they choose to fool themselves and millions of others into thinking that they are compassionate by focusing on emotional fixes that are more about satisfying their own bloated egos, while appearing as caring philanthropists to millions of jaded fans.

You know, unless Jolie is the one vote that will decided the difference between an Obama or a McCain administration from taking the White House, I think we need to take a step back and chill out. And please stop with the 'my respect with Angelina Jolie will be shot if she endorses McCain', bullshit. That woman has done so much outstanding humanitarian work that anyone who would be willing to drop her because of a fucking candidate pretense is unbelievably stupid.

John Voight: Obama sowing socialist seeds in young people

This is comedy gold.

We, as parents, are well aware of the importance of our teachers who teach and program our children. We also know how important it is for our children to play with good-thinking children growing up.

Sen. Barack Obama has grown up with the teaching of very angry, militant white and black people: the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, William Ayers and Rev. Michael Pfleger. We cannot say we are not affected by teachers who are militant and angry. We know too well that we become like them, and Mr. Obama will run this country in their mindset.

The Democratic Party, in its quest for power, has managed a propaganda campaign with subliminal messages, creating a God-like figure in a man who falls short in every way. It seems to me that if Mr. Obama wins the presidential election, then Messrs. Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers and Pfleger will gain power for their need to demoralize this country and help create a socialist America.

McCain is trying to help who and who go to Iraq?

Seriously, who are these people?

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, star of MTV's "The Hills" reality show, sat down today's "Extra".

Montag, whose late stepbrother served 3 years in Iraq and Afghanistan (he recently died falling off a roof in Colorado), is planning a trip to perform for American troops stationed in the Middle East. Heidi says, "My brother was an airborne ranger in Afghanistan and Iraq. It's very important to me and important to Spencer to support the troops and go over there."

Montag also talked about her budding friendship with presidential hopeful Senator John McCain's daughter, Meghan, commenting, "She's very sweet. We have a lot in common." The pair were photographed last week dining together in Los Angeles.

But how will they get to Iraq? Spencer Pratt said, "I think Meghan McCain is helping organize Heidi and our Iraq trip. Her dad definitely has some pull with the military. I think she's going to put that together for us."

Back in April John McCain called Montag a "talented actress" after she said she planned to vote for the Arizona senator.
