Lynn Braddy Cries For Sarah Palin

Sarah lost her gig today at Fox News. Yes she still has a few sycophants: This quote is from Lynn Braddy

Lib, Robert Costa, is saying she’s mostly living in her 1.6 million mansion in Scottsdale. That has a good view of all the ILLEGAL ALIENS.

You might remember Lynn from such brilliant pondering as...

Oh by the way all the people in Massachusetts are liberals, just sayin.

Crisis in Libya and Egypt, Obama in Vegas with the 1%, partying.

Well to sum up, Palin hit the nail on the head, Obama’s goose is cooked. Thanks Newshounds for not cutting me off. I’ll be back when SCOTUS declares Obamacare unconstitutional
On an related note Scott Brown ( Remember him?) has been drinking and tweeting.

    whatever bud
  2. Heading to see Ayla@AylaBrown perform at her second sold out show. Glad she does not askMom and Dad for money. Finally!!!!

Shut the f*^k up, Ted Nugent!

I've not really made any political statements in the last few months, and this is mostly due to the busy time in my life at the moment. However, I want to keep writing and making observations in the world of politics for BAD, and I will make more of an effort to share my thoughts in a fair, balanced and nuanced way, as I always have. Ok, i'm going to continue to be the young liberal with a sailor's mouth, but I do get points for trying, right?

Anyway, let's get onto it: Unless you've just awaken from a 24-hour coma, you all know that yesterday was the re-inauguration of President Obama. I'll have more of my own thoughts about what I saw tomorrow, but for right now, let's just say not everyone was pleased that he's still the President of the United States. In particular - former rock star, turned rabid right-wing moron and gun nut,  2nd Amendment defender and conservative commentator Ted Nugent. You see, after President Obama called for an assault weapons ban and for universal background checks on registered gun owners, among other actions taken just last week, many gun enthusiasts and advocates for the 2nd Amendment saw potential reasonable gun laws  aimed at preventing more horrific massacres like the one at Newtown, Connecticut as a sign that the federal government was coming for their handguns, hunting rifles, pistols, shotguns, ammo rounds,  bullets and magazine clips. If you're familiar with Nugent's views on current events and politics, then you'll know that he explains his position on gun rights in a rational, reasonable way and in no way does he go off the rails and resorts to childish, schoolyard insults and all but threatens the Office of the President of the United States by using incendiary-charged rhetoric like how gun enthusiasts like him need to "fix" the fact that he's President.

Wait a minute.........
The president of the United States goes to the Vietnam Memorial Wall and pretends to honor 58,000 American heroes who died fighting communism and then he hires, appoints and associates with communists. He pretends to pay honor to men who died fighting communism, and then he hangs out with, hires and appoints communists. He is an evil dangerous man who hates America and hates freedom. And we need to fix this as soon as possible.
Uh, Ted -- even if you and your ilk did rise up and decided to take up arms against the homeland, you do realize that the President would have the authority to send in soldiers to put an end to the rebellion, then have the remaining survivors tried for treason and more than likely, either end up incarcerated in a federal prison for the rest of their days or face the rope. It's bad enough that this debate has been sullied by the NRA and their ad on using Obama's children as political cannon fodder, we don't someone like you dragging it further down into the mud with your talk calling for an armed rebellion against the government.

The Making Of The Living Daylights Review

How do you know if you are a James Bond fanboy? You spend 3 years apiece researching and writing 2 books on movies that Stared George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton. However in this case fanboy is no insult. As in his first book the  making of On her Majesty's Secret Service Charles Heffenstein has put his time and fandom to good use giving us a definitive history of the Movie The Living Daylights. The book opens with details on the initial  storyline written by Michael Wilson and Dick Maibaum that was to be used for the movie which quite frankly sounded like a better film than the one they ended up making. It is this section that makes for the most interesting reading. Much of the other parts of the book can be found in the documentary contained on TLD DVD's. That is not to say the book is a letdown because it certainly is not. There are many interesting insights in the book and several fabulous pictures all of which add up to another Hoffenstein winner that should be a part of every James Bond fans library.

That Hoffenstein is a huge fan of Dalton's Bond is evident through out the book. In the world of James Bond fandom he's certainly not alone. However in details given by directer Jon Glenn and other cast mates Hoffenstein inadvertently explains why Dalton ultimately failed in the role. The reason was not that the role was too lightweight for the Shakespearean trained actor as has been put forth but it was because the role was too big. Dalton is a portrayed, and I have no reason to doubt the sincerity of the story, as a nice but quiet guy who didn't want to be star. Ultimately a shy, quiet, very human actor turning the character of James Bond into a shy, quiet very human character was bound to fail. Put it simply Dalton is a fine actor but he gives you little reason to get excited in the role. Timothy Dalton simply lacked the presence that the other 5 men (OK Headly 6) men had when they played the role.

Obviously Hoffesnstein would not agree with my assessment of Dalton nor my assessment that while TLD is a fine Bond film which high entertainment value it ultimately falls in the middle of the pack of Bond films. Better than some worse than others. There's certainly  nothing wrong with the film it's just there. Though I plan on going back and watching the film soon to see if Hoffesnstein's fandom of the film has managed to convince me it is more than a fun, entertaining, middle of the road Bond film.

I didn't not enjoy The Making Of The Living Daylights as much as Hoffensteins first making of book though I am willing to concede in this case this was not the fault of the author but the personal taste of the reader.  While I like TKD I simply consider OHMSS to be not only the best Bond film ever but one of my favorite movies ever period. The book being self published has a lot of typos and grammar errors ( I know pot meet Kettle) and it become somewhat distracting. Also I didn't agree with the Author labeling the positive reviews "on target" and the negative reviews "off target" There were several things mentioned in the "on target" reviews I would take issue with and some things in the "off target" I actually agreed with. A simple Positive movie reviews and negative movie reviews would have been more effective. However the reviews on both sides reinforce my long held believe that Movie Critics are by in large ignorant schmucks.

The details, information and insights that Hoffenstein put in to the Making Of The Living Daylights again dwarfs most all other Bond reference books and insures that while the $49.99 price tag is healthy the book is worth every penny. It has been put forth that Hoffenstien should put out a book for every Bond film and while that would be nice it seems to be the Authors MO to take the time and do it right. So far that has meant 3 years work between books. That means 69 years to complete the job IF they don't make another film which of course they will. I simply don't think Mr Hoffenstein has that kind of time. Still I am grateful for the 2 outstanding must own for Bond fans books he has given us.

BTW Mr. Hoffenstien if somehow you read this and you want some advice... I know it's a horrible movie but maybe the next book could be the Making of Casino Royale 67. With all of the egos, fighting, stories and mayhem that went on behind the scenes of that disaster the making of book would be as great as the movie is terrible.

Division Playoffs Day 2.

Ok if the first weekend was Fernando Fiore and Feliz Fernandez then today was Ilia Calderon and Satcha Pretto. What will tomorrow be?

Houston Texans Vs New England Patriots
Seattle Seahawks Vs Atlanta Falcons.

Atlanta wins a crazy game against Seattle 30-28. Brian Billick opines...the Seattle Seahawks are now the team to beat. You can't make this shit up.

New England wins 41-28. Honestly I missed a good chunk of the game to watch Nebraska-Michigan State. I did here Phil Simms say Houston should kick a field goal and then kick an onside kick...down 13 points.

Divisional Playoffs

It's The Baltimore Ravens vs The Denver Broncos And San Francisco 49ers Vs Green Bay Packers. no helmets because they clutter the page :) But all thoughts on the games go here...

So far through one half of the Broncos Ravens game this is already better than anything we saw last week. Great game.

The officiating in this game has been awful. Not one-sided towards Denver yet like I feared but awful none the less.

Also Gumbel and Dildorf. WE GET IT! IT'S COLD. But near as I can tell the wind is not blowing that hard and believe it or not the game has been played in much colder weather than this.

Yeah that made for last weeks stinkers big time. In the end Baltimore didn't have to but I don't get why neither coach let their QB's win the game. That overtime looked like a game coached between John Fox and Jim Caldwell.

It's no secret I am not as much an Erin Andrews person as most  male sports fans and the fact that she is wearing a Siberian overcoat and scarf for the second week in a row while working a football game in 50 degree temperatures isn't helping.

So glad the option can't work in the NFL

It's OK Green Bay trophies are people with self-esteem issues.

I Knew It!

Thanks to

Pat Robertson has figured out why marriages fail and it isn't the gays it's you awful looking sea-hags

“You know, it may be your mom isn’t as sweet as you think she is, she may be kind of hard-nosed. And so, you say it’s my father, he’s not paying attention to mom, but you know mom…” he trails off and offers a spiteful little chuckle."

He launches into another story: “A woman came to a preacher I know—it’s so funny. She was awful looking. Her hair was all torn up, she was overweight, and looked terrible…”
So far, this story sounds hilarious Pat, Please continue.
“And she said, ‘Oh, Reverend, what can I do? My husband has started to drink.’”
The hateful punch line is coming. I can feel it. I’m on the edge of my seat.
“And the preacher looked at her and he said, ‘Madam, if I were married to you, I’d start to drink too.’”

College Football National Championship

All thoughts on the game go here. BTW Notre Dame's cheerleaders are um...well let's just say in that phase Alabama has them beat to hell.

Counts Krystal Bawl

Alabama 23
Notre Dame 14

I think Alabama provided they're motivated (and there is reason to believe they are not) is just too good. However Notre Dame's defense will keep this game close. I am guessing it will not be an aesthetically pleasing game.

OK It's 28-0 Alabama at halftime. So yeah here's a picture of Alabama QB AJ McCarron's girlfriend Kathrine Webb. She's a Miss Alabama

35-0. Pretty soon I'll be taking request.

35-7 do you smell a comeback? Me neither.

Final score 42-14 Alabama.

Thoughts go here. Just hope the games are better than today's duds.

Playoffs? You Wanna Talk About Playoffs?

Yeah I post it every year but it never gets old.

Is it me or didn't we just see this playoff game last year? The Texans have hit the skids but I think they win this one.

The Packers still haven't stopped Adrian Peterson and I doubt they do tomorrow night. However the Vikings are still QB'd by Samantha Steele who will make just enough bad mistakes for the Packers to survive and move on.

The countdown to Tazon Latino starts tomorrow!

Samantha Steele is out the Vikings going with Jack Webb

Will Bond Get A Best Picture Nomination?

It's been 50 years since 007 made his screen debut with the 1963 spy film, Dr. No. Five decades, five versions of the MI6 agent, two lawsuits over rights to the franchise, one atrocious spoof by Woody Allen and $6 billion dollars later, Bond may be finally getting his due from the big-wigs at AMPAS:

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced on Friday that the 85th annual Academy Awards ceremony will include a tribute to 007. The secret agent celebrated his 50th anniversary in 2012, marked by the release of "Skyfall."
"We are very happy to include a special sequence on our show saluting the Bond films on their 50th birthday," said producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron in a statement. "Starting with 'Dr. No' back in 1962, the 007 movies have become the longest-running motion picture franchise in history and a beloved global phenomenon."
But it looks like Oscar could be doing the franchise one better: It could be nominated for Best Picture come Thursday morning. The biggest indicator of this is Skyfall nabbing a nomination for Best Film from the Producers Guild of America this week, one of a handful of major indicators of a film's chances of gaining a Best Picture nomination.

As someone who's only introduction through Bond comes from the Brosnan/Craig eras and an advocate of having well-made box office blockbusters getting recognition from the stuck-up members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, I'm grateful that they may be finally ready to give the Bond series recognition for becoming a global icon in film history. Granted, I wish they would have given similar treatment to other well-made mainstream films like The Dark Knight or any of the Harry Potter movies, but it's a good freaking start if this happens.
