Raiders Finally Pull The Trigger

Al Davis has given Lane Kiffin a John McCain style execution. He fired him over the phone. I found this paragraph particularly interesting...

Tom Cable, the team's offensive line coach, was emerging as the leading candidate to replace Kiffin, a source said. Cable was among three coaches interviewed by Davis on Monday night; the others were offensive coordinator Greg Knapp and special consultant Paul Hackett.

Both Cable and Hackett have coaching experience on the college level. Cable was the head coach of Idaho where he won maybe 3 games in 3 years. Hackett was the head coach at Pittsburgh and USC failing miserable twice and earning the name Paul "can't" Hackett.

Unlike the other firing in St. Louis this one makes no sense and the replacenents have no experience. Way to go Al.
