WASHINGTON - In a sharp turnaround, Republican John McCain has opened a 5-point lead on Democrat Barack Obama in the U.S. presidential race and is seen as a stronger manager of the economy, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.
McCain leads Obama among likely U.S. voters by 46 percent to 41 percent, wiping out Obama's solid 7-point advantage in July and taking his first lead in the monthly Reuters/Zogby poll.
............................................................................
McCain now has a 9-point edge, 49 percent to 40 percent, over Obama on the critical question of who would be the best manager of the economy -- an issue nearly half of voters said was their top concern in the November 4 presidential
election.
Seriously please tell me Americans are not this fucking stupid.

One would hope not, but judging from the last two elections --- What can one say??

That makes me so very sad.
Sometimes, I admit it, I find it hard to understand Americans.
To this foreigner, it seems Bush has given Americans every reason to distrust his party and his policies, and to make sure the US doesn't have four more years of them.
Is it love for Republican policies, or fear of Obama's?
Holy shit.
Seriously, though. I took ET Daughter to eat at the Olive Garden in our last day of U.S. travels. There was a guy the size of a small Volkswagen holding forth about how the RNC should just take over the government by coup and McCain was the only hope. He was loud, incoherent, and looked ready to pick a fight with anyone (other than his dining companion) who met his eye.
The low-information voters are dangerous enough. The no-information voters, infinitely more so, since they're also infinitely more vocal.
Welcome Back :) Your trip was good I hope :)
The blind faith evangelicals here in my area have managed to browbeat, with the help of Repub talking points, the majority of the populace into line with McCain. They are shameless in their playing on Obama's race, casting fear in the whites here that a black man is going to "punish" the white people for slavery if he is elected POTUS. They play up McCain as the "safe" candidate for white america.
I have never been so ashamed of level of stupidity of the people where I live.
