Guess I Am Not An Elitist Liberal

This thread on off topic explains the difference between myself and many Newshounders. I like Olive Garden and hell I even like Chillies their Hamburgers at least :( I guess I'll just have to settle for being the Ralph Kramden of Newshounds.

Late Edit: Another difference. Most Newshounders know the how to use Their, There and They're properly. :)

Well, it's all relative. I know I'm spoiled because Victoria is second only to San Francisco among West Coast cities in North America in restaurants per capita, so the times when it's Denny's-or-nothing here are rare. (I've been in the local Denny's literally once in three-plus years.)

On the other hand, when we lived in that small Oregon Coast town (where the Dairy Queen was the only restaurant to take out a display ad in the Yellow Pages), the Marie Callender's that was a 90-minute drive away looked a helluva lot better than it does in hindsight.

Remember, I've seen Newshounds regs offer to stomp on peanuts on a less-than-pristine pub floor before eating them! So I don't think it's as much elitism as it is a tendency to be foodies whenever occasion allows. ("Poor Pinchy" being an example.)

And there are always BIORs' squid-burgers to pick up the slack...

My mother, who was born in Italy, used to love going to Olive Garden. Maybe she just appreciated the family being together, but she used to insist on the Olive Garden for Mother's Day and her birthdays.
I haven't gone back since she died, but that thread may just give me a reason.

ET I always use the term "elitist" with tongue planted firmly in cheek. :)

I knew that, Count. And now I shall go visit the nearest Burger King drive thru to get a Whopper to accompany my Grey Poupon & caviar...
