TON - The Obama Administration began at midnight Sunday.
Okay, I exaggerate.
But I am trying to make a point.
Which is this: Even if Sen. Barack Obama loses the presidential election — and of course he may — the playing field of our politics now has shifted seismically in his philosophical direction.
The era of cowboy capitalism has died, largely of self-inflicted wounds. Who knows what’s coming now? I do: A new era of tight business regulation and government intervention in the markets.
For now, and perhaps for many years, there will be no going back.
The Rubicon was crossed this weekend, when the deal was struck for a $700 billion federal takeover of the carcass of Wall Street.
At that moment, the conservative era in America, which began with Ronald Reagan’s election in 1980, ended. It did so not with a bang, but with a whimper — a cry of help from erstwhile Masters of the Universe who suddenly feared for their platinum-level lives.

"Journalists, displeased with Sarah Palin's efforts to restrict their access to her, are threatening not to cover her events surrounding the United Nations conference here unless they're allowed more access," according to Politico.
"The unfolding boycott is the latest development in a rocky relationship between Palin's handlers and the press, in which the campaign has sought to tightly control her interactions with the media."
CBS News shows the "great lengths" the McCain campaign is using to protect their vice presidential candidate from answering questions.

After two major terrorist attacks in Pakistan and Yemen — along with a new U.S. push at insurgent strongholds along the Afghan border — U.S. intelligence is worried about a massive "October surprise" attack geared to sway the U.S. elections.
America's military and intelligence agencies intercepted a series of messages from al-Qaida's leadership last month that seemed designed to warn local cells to prepare for imminent attacks. One such operation may have been the attack that brought down a Marriott Hotel in Islamabad where the newly inaugurated president of Pakistan was scheduled to dine.
The attacks would likely be at American bases or allies abroad, since most experts think the group’s ability to penetrate the U.S. homeland has deteriorated since 9-11. Still, al-Qaida is aggressively recruiting both North African and European operatives who may have a greater ability to enter the United States and blend in before launching an attack, according to U.S. intelligence officials.
The run time of Quantum of Solace was today confirmed by IGN and Cinematical as 106 minutes, making it the shortest James Bond movie ever.
Director Marc Forster has been adamant from the movie’s early stages of production that Solace would clock in at under two hours, the first Bond pic since 1997’s Tomorrow Never Dies to do so.
Quantum of Solace is a direct sequel to Casino Royale, the longest Bond film in the series, with a runtime of nearly two-and-a-half hours.
Marc Forster told Cinematical, “…you know, like in the middle of Casino [Royale] they had a very long card game which, which was, was … and in this movie it’s shorter and doesn’t have that type of card game where you sort of reflect more because the story didn’t require it. So the movie is, you know, a little over an hour and forty minutes, so it’s much of a more compact emotional intense journey than Casino, which, I think, had more reflective moments maybe.
The reason is basic and easy. The DEMOCRAT PARTY and their moronic followers have created this whole thing and THAT is historical fact. Period. End of discussion.
Huh?
Let me see if I have this correct: the Democratic Party are the ones that created the disastrous war in Iraq, the economic crisis, the Climate Change scare, and undermining of civil rights and civil liberties?
Exactly how did you come to this conclusion? And how is it a historical fact that it's the Democrat's fault, when in seven years in the WH and six in Congress, the party in charge when these screw-ups happened, has been the GOP?
Please explain this one to me.
Jonathan | Homepage | 09.21.08 - 5:41 am | #
There is no explaining it to folks that have a memory span of a dead gnat.
The War In Iraq is a decisive victory just in case you are behind the times.
That is why it is no longer an issue and why the morons dems would not ratify the Surge Resolution in September 2008.
Please come back when you know what it is you are rambling on about.
The Global Warming - get it right idiot - was created by liars with th3e Chief Liar being the Goracle.
Global Warming is a myth created by idiots.
What screw ups are you yammering about?

I don't debate my enemies and if you are either a full-fledged Marxist or Socialist or Communist or a morphed form of all of the above, an American Leftinistra Liberal, your idiocy will not find a friendly reception here. EVER.
I will have a ZERO tolerance for jerks from the left, primarily Marxist idiots that support Barack Hussein Moron Marxist Obama, aka Czarbie. Czarbie is as unAmerican and anti-Americanist as one can get. Even more so than his idiot trolls.
There is not a thing that Czarbie espouses that can be reconciled with the United States Constitution. NOTHING. He is a Clear and Present Danger and has been classified as an Enemy of The State. PERIOD.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Deep-seated racial misgivings could cost Barack Obama the White House if the election is close, according to an AP-Yahoo News poll that found one-third of white Democrats harbor negative views toward blacks — many calling them "lazy," "violent," responsible for their own troubles.
The poll, conducted with Stanford University, suggests that the percentage of voters who may turn away from Obama because of his race could easily be larger than the final difference between the candidates in 2004 — about two and one-half percentage points.
Certainly, Republican John McCain has his own obstacles: He's an ally of an unpopular president and would be the nation's oldest first-term president. But Obama faces this: 40 percent of all white Americans hold at least a partly negative view toward blacks, and that includes many Democrats and independents.
More than a third of all white Democrats and independents — voters Obama can't win the White House without — agreed with at least one negative adjective about blacks, according to the survey, and they are significantly less likely to vote for Obama than those who don't have such views.
Such numbers are a harsh dose of reality in a campaign for the history books. Obama, the first black candidate with a serious shot at the presidency, accepted the Democratic nomination on the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, a seminal moment for a nation that enshrined slavery in its Constitution.
"There are a lot fewer bigots than there were 50 years ago, but that doesn't mean there's only a few bigots," said Stanford political scientist Paul Sniderman who helped analyze the exhaustive survey.
Fournier continues until he himself proves he is full of shit...
"Among white Democrats, one third cited a negative adjective and, of those, 58 percent said they planned to back Obama. "
And your point is Ron?
Anyway a this is a great answer to this BS from Fournier
Let's think about that last sentence carefully. One third of white Democrats agreed with a negative adjective about African-Americans. But 58 percent of those supposed "racists" - a majority of them - are still voting for a particular African-American in specific. And that's supposed to be "bad news" for Obama's candidacy?
In fact, if we review the actual poll - rather than Fournier's spin - it provides very good news for those that want Obama to win.
The raid at the Tony Alamo Christian Ministries south of Texarkana started an hour before sunset, but state police said no one was arrested. Armed guards regularly patrol the headquarters of the group — which critics call a cult — but there was no resistance as agents moved in, state police said.
Tom Browne, who runs the FBI office in Little Rock, said the investigation involved the Mann Act, which prohibits the transportation of children across state lines for criminal activity.
"Children living at the facility may have been sexually and physically abused," Browne said.
In a phone call to The Associated Press from a friend's house in the Los Angeles area, Tony Alamo — who was once accused of child abuse and has been convicted of tax evasion — denied involvement in pornography.
"We don't go into pornography; nobody in the church is into that," Alamo said. "Where do these allegations stem from? The anti-Christ government. The Catholics don't like me because I have cut their congregation in half. They hate true Christianity."
Raleigh, N.C. – With concern over the economy at an all time high, Barack Obama has pulled into a tie with John McCain in North Carolina for the first time in a Public Policy Polling survey. Each candidate has 46%, with Libertarian Bob Barr picking up 5%.
There isn’t much doubt what’s driving this increased level of competitiveness. The
numbers of voters in the state listing the economy as their biggest issue has hovered
around 50% for most of the year but with the increased turmoil in the last week that
number has now jumped to 58%. Barack Obama has a 24 point lead with those voters.
“The more voters are concerned about the economy instead of things like immigration,
taxes, and social issues the better Democrats are going to do in North Carolina,” said Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy Polling. “That’s the direction the election is headed right now and if it remains on that course the state is going to be extremely competitive.”
A serial bank robber lost his wig and his cowboy hat and is suspected of suffering a head injury after two bank employees confronted him today as he tried to rob his sixth bank since Aug. 14.
Surveillance pictures showing the man, minus disguise, fleeing the Provenant Federal Credit Union, 4001 W. 16th Avenue.
From the photos, the man - dubbed Bank Robber BOB, appears to be a well-dressed businessman.
According to FBI Agent in Charge James H. Davis, "Bob" left a trail of blood as he fled from the scene wearing cowboy boots, dark slacks, a blue shirt and tie.
The man had entered the bank, approached a teller and passed a note demanding money.
Davis said the man may have run to a white 1970s pickup with older Colorado license plates with white letters over a green background.
Bank Robber BOB is suspected of robbing two Wells Fargo Banks, one at 3900 Wadsworth Boulevard, Wheat Ridge, on Aug. 14, and the second at 1955 S. Sheridan, Denver, on Aug. 18
Article Launched: 09/18/2008 07:09:56 PM MDTA part-time English teacher at Metropolitan State College is under fire from conservatives after he allegedly told students to write essays critiquing Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
The adjunct instructor, Andrew Hallam, has not been available for comment since one of his students went to a Denver TV station with an allegation that he bullied and harrassed conservative students.
Hallam is teaching two classes this semester, his first at Metro State, according to the school.
Today, Republican legislators in Colorado called for "immediate corrective action" against Hallam.
"Good grief, this is supposed to be an English class," Republican state Sen. Mike Kopp of Littleton stated on the GOP legislative website Coloradosenate.com.
"Once again, it looks like an academic at a publicly supported college in our state is using his classroom as a soapbox for his personal politics. And he is trampling on students' free speech in the process -- actually telling them what opinions they are allowed to express."
According to the conservative news website WorldNetDaily.com., Hallam assigned students to write about Palin, noting "her body language, facial expressions, the way she dressed, what she said and who she pointed out or talked about in her speech. How do these elements form a 'fairy tale' image about Sarah Palin as a person and as a politician that the Republican Party may wish its members and the American public to believe?"
Yes a major American newspaper quoted The World Nut Daily. I have figured out that Conservative students are the biggest pussies in the world. Can these cocksuckers do anything other than piss and moan? And why didn't I turn in the professors I had at Wayne who were republican to the core? They BULLIED ME BOO HOO HOO
Suck it up pussies.
Oh and if you want your head to explode read the comments left form the right wing douchebags.
We’ve been doing a little research here, ladies and gentlemen, on this Obama Spanish language ad quoting me. It’s a TV ad that they quote me as saying a couple things, an ad running in New Mexico, Nevada, and Colorado. One of the things they quote me as saying is, “Shut your mouth or get out.” And what they’re doing in this ad is tying me to McCain, saying that the Republicans are two-faced on immigration and so forth. While McCain is out there saying he loves illegal immigrants and wants to welcome them, the real Republicans like me are saying, shut your mouth or get out. Now, what’s interesting, I never said that. Even in the heat of the amnesty battle, I never said shut your mouth or get out, even in the middle of those protests. What we have learned is that the usual suspects are behind this. The Media Matters types, the Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting types, they are the people putting together Obama ads. Obama’s new, right? Obama’s into unity, Obama’s into change, he’s using the same old Democrat Party flacks, the same hacks. The statement you’re a foreigner, shut your mouth and get out, was made, I did say it, but in a parody of Mexican immigration laws in a Morning Update April 6th of 2006.
We were making fun of Mexican immigration laws by trying to point out the stark difference between what you can do as an immigrant or illegal immigrant in Mexico versus what they can do here…
…It happens constantly when they want to link me, the left, constantly take me totally out of context, knowingly doing so. We can even go back, we could probably post on the website the Dittocam version of this Morning Update from April 6 of 2006 to prove it. Well, we don’t need to prove it, but here. I’m reciting Mexican immigration law: You’re a foreigner, shut your mouth or get out. The Obama campaign has taken “shut your mouth or get out” from this commentary and put it in an Obama ad and claiming I said that about Mexicans in this country, when I never have, plain and simple. Also, what is the other quote they have me saying? I don’t have it in front of me. Stupid and unskilled Mexicans. That was way back in 1994 from the NAFTA debate, and I was chiding Americans — remember, I was pro-NAFTA — I was chiding Americans for being afraid of losing the kind of jobs that would go to an unskilled workforce. I was referring to the stupid and unskilled workers in this country, too, as a sales pitch for NAFTA, don’t worry about these kind of jobs, they’re jobs you won’t do anyway, is what I said back in 1994. And both of these things have been taken out of context on purpose…
What Obama wants is for hispanics to hate Republicans - doesn’t matter that McCain has a long pro-immigrant history, doesn’t matter that Rush never said the things Obama claims…all that matters is that hate be created and made to fester, because Obama feels this will help him with hispanic voters in November. I recall ads out here in Nevada from Obama just prior to the caucuses which absurdly claimed Hillary was anti-hispanic - in other words, this race-baiting is not something new from Obama, but is a tactic the Obama campaign appears to rely upon.
The budget watchdog Taxpayers for Common Sense has released an analysis of earmark requests in the 2009 Defense Authorization bill, finding 435 earmarks worth $5.2 billion. Neither Barack Obama nor John McCain asked for any earmarks. Joe Biden had an $11.6 million earmark. The Washington Times reports that McCain supporters Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Joe Lieberman (I-CT) requested milllions:
Lieberman requested $35 million for “Technology development for F135 engine” for beneficiary Pratt and Whitney. Graham has $20 million in solo requests, including a $9.9 million earmark for a “Physical Fitness Center” at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina.
“Would McCain veto those if he were president?” the Times asks. Reporter Christina Bellantoni called the McCain campaign to see if he would veto the earmarks. “Update, 5:45 p.m.: Silence from Team McCain,” she writes.

BUT I bet those people can post on the blog.
“Carly will now disappear,” this source said. “Senator McCain was furious.” Asked to define “disappear,” this source said, adding that she would be off TV for a while – but remain at the Republican National Committee and keep her role as head of the party’s joint fundraising committee with the McCain campaign.
Fiorina was booked for several TV interviews over the next few days, including one on CNN. Those interviews have been canceled.
Keltoi at Night Says:
Funny how Obama is an elitist, but both he and his running mate Joe Biden, compared to McCain do not come from the same financial circle, or have even close backgrounds. The continued false front that somehow all liberals are elitists will eventually destroy the republican party.
Well, first off, Palin is as blue collar as you can get in American politics, and that is one of three reasons why she is appealing to many, the other two being her gender and her happy, healthy thumping of the Bible.
But you are equating elitism with wealth. I don’t think that works. Lindsey Lohan and Pam Anderson are both super rich, and no one would mistake them for intellectuals or “elites”.
Obama’s immortal quote - delivered to San Fransisco liberal elites - about poor benighted folk bitterly clinging to their guns and religion is a classic elitist statement.
Elitism is “I am better than you, smarter than you, but you are too dumb to know it.” It is the liberal equivalent of the right’s religious bigotry - “I’m saved - are you
Now he's just starting to give a headache.
Keltoi at Night Says:
The Republic of Stupidity Says:
Clearly, you have not dealt with the rich…
Well, you got me there! But my main point was that you don’t have to be rich to be an elitist, and you can be rich without being an elitist. Willie Nelson? Richer than sin. Elitist? No.
Likewise, you can be stupid and be an elitist (epitomized in the bumper sticker “Christians aren’t perfect, just forgiven.”) and be smart and not be an elitist. “Elite” is defined as belonging to the very best. If you think you are better than other people, you are an elitist, regardless of your wealth or your I.Q.
Yes more...
Is Matt Damon an elitist? George Clooney? And is elitist a good thing or a bad thing? I mean, when it was being defined as “smart people” on an earlier thread, it was obviously good. But since rich people are all eltisits, and rich people are often Republicans, that can’t be right.
On a decidely non-elitist note, that was a helluva Monday Night Football game, eh? Dallas’ defensive line is freakin huge, they looked like small horses…
(CNN) — A top aide to John McCain said Monday she thought comedian Tina Fey's impersonation of Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin on NBC's Saturday Night Live over the weekend was sexist because it portrayed the Alaska governor as lacking in substance.
The NBC comedy show's season premiere began with a "nonpartisan message" during which Fey's Palin and Amy Poehler's depiction of Hillary Clinton called for an end to sexism in the presidential race.
"The portrait was very dismissive of the substance of Sarah Palin, and so in that sense, they were defining Hillary Clinton as very substantive, and Sarah Palin as totally superficial," Fiorina told MSNBC earlier Monday. "I think that continues the line of argument that is disrespectful in the extreme, and yes, I would say, sexist in the sense that just because Sarah Palin has different views than Hillary Clinton does not mean that she lacks substance."
Watch: 'Palin' makes SNL debut
The former Hewlett-Packard CEO is among McCain's most high profile surrogates and earlier this month was the first member of the Arizona senator's campaign to suggest Democrats were launching sexist attacks at the Republican VP candidate.
"I am appalled by the Obama campaign's attempts to belittle Governor Sarah Palin’s experience,” Fiorina said then. “The facts are that Sarah Palin has made more executive decisions as a Mayor and Governor than Barack Obama has made in his life."
Fiorina, along with other high-profile female backers of McCain, held a press conference at the Republican National Convention criticizing the Obama campaign and the media for what they said were sexist comments about Palin.
"I think one of the things Hillary Clinton's run for the presidency did is attune women's ears to sexist attacks…. Many people have demeaned or belittled [Palin's] experience — and as women, we all know how frequently that happens. This is a well qualified candidate for the vice presidency," she said.
This is huge. If this poll is correct, New York is in play. If New York is in play, then this is really bad news for Barack Obama, as it is clear that as we get closer to the election, McCain is increasing his lead in battleground states, or is closing the gap.
The Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge[3] is a 3,000 ft (910 m) footbridge across the Missouri River between Council Bluffs, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska. It is scheduled to open on 2008-09-28.[2]
Interest in a landmark bridge across the Missouri River has arisen ever since Omaha and Council Bluffs began replacing their older crossings with girder bridges which do not have towers (most notably the Ak-Sar-Ben Bridge).[citation needed] The bridge is named after former Nebraska Senator Bob Kerrey, who secured $18 million of federal funding for the bridge in 2000[3].
The bridge was redesigned in 2004, after the lowest bid for the project was $44 million. In May 2006, a final cable-stayed bridge design by Kansas City engineering and architectural firm HNTB was selected for the bridge. The $22 million bid included two 200-foot (61 m) towers and a clearance of 52 feet (16 m) above the river. Groundbreaking for construction of the bridge occurred on October 26, 2006.[1]
The bridge is north of the I-480 girder bridge and connects the Port of Omaha's Miller Landing in Omaha to One Renaissance Center in the former Dodge Park Playland in Council BluffsWASHINGTON — Activists at a conservative political forum snapped up boxes of waffle mix depicting Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama as a racial stereotype on its front and wearing Arab-like headdress on its top flap.
Values Voter Summit organizers cut off sales of Obama Waffles boxes on Saturday, saying they had not realized the boxes displayed "offensive material." The summit and the exhibit hall where the boxes were sold had been open since Thursday afternoon.
The box was meant as political satire, said Mark Whitlock and Bob DeMoss, two writers from Franklin, Tenn., who created the mix. They sold it for $10 a box from a rented booth at the summit sponsored by the lobbying arm of the Family Research Council.
But we do not have a serious pick for the vice-presidency in the GOP, do we? We have an absurdity. And a joke."
