Can someone please explain to me

Our country's insane obsession with firearms and the fear that Obama & the Democrats are going to take em way?

An armed population is a free population - just in case anyone of the Bill Ayers philosophy was thinking that the election of Obama is a license to Bolshevize the United States. It just seems a universal - we see a socialist elected President and we take out an extra insurance policy on our liberties.

It is fortunate that the Supreme Court recently ruled - quite properly - that the right to bear arms is an individual right. It will be hard for the Democrats to impose heavy restrictions on gun ownership, but we can expect them to try as much as possible to do so. And all of those commercials we heard in the battleground States that Obama was in favor of the 2nd Amendment? Just so much leftist smokescreen. Obama’s record is that of a gun-banner, not of a believer in the right of Americans to defend themselves.

In the end, this will do nothing but provide a good quarterly profit for our firearms manufacturers - and, of course, provide another reason for tyrants to fear the people of the United States of America.

It's fear of a black man Jonathan. it's the fear of the racist.

Liberals tend to emphasize the first part of this; conservatives the second. Where we see a force for good, they see a potential tool of oppression. Because of this, conservatives tend to be (from our perspective) overly fearful of incipient dictatorships. If a dictatorship ever does arise, they will use the guns to force it out of power, at least until the nukes start falling.

This is one of the great paradoxes of the American political landscape. It is the Right that praises our democratic system, yet it is the Left that thinks that the system actually works well enough to prevent a dictator from coming to power. No less paradoxical is the fact that it is the pull-yourself-up-by-your-own-bootstraps Right that most explicitly identifies with a religion based largely on charity and kindness to others.

Go figure.

They haven't got to that part of the bible yet Serg. They are stuck in the Old Testament. If the right fears Dictators Why did they cheer on the man who came the closet to being a Dictator in our nations history?
