No More Comments On Chrish Threads And It's All Your Fault

NOTE: Comments will no longer be accepted on my threads. I've asked repeatedly for you to ignore the trolls and stay on topic and it seems beyond the ability of a handful who have effectively ruined it for everyone else.-Chrish

You can see by the amount of quotes I have posted today that the mods at newshounds have a job to try and keep some sanity to their threads but to me this is just a cop out.

I've said this before but what newshounds needs is people to monitor Fox and people to run the website.

The problem is,ignoring the trolls also leaves it open for them to spout whatever garbage and nonesense they wish. Clutter threads, use sockpuppets to defame liberal posters, and generally be pains in the ass.

It's a battle of words and wits. Leave the fighting up to those best suited for it,and stay on topic yourself. The thread was on topic despite the idiocy of Zain.

All shutting it down does give them some perceived "win". They've effectively cause a mod to shut down debate, and when no one is talking about Fox's bullshit, they're happy.

I understand people have to deal with things their own way and all,but if a persona can't take the heat of discussions like that, they should really turn it over to someone who can or jsut shut the whole thing down.

You can't jsut let things roll by unchallenged. That's not a sharing of ideas at all.

I have to concur, Yakki. I don't think the gals do the site any kind of service by shutting down comments - be they regulars or trolls - in response to the dialogue. Hell, if you're hosting a blog, isn't the dialogue the whole freakin' point of it all??

It's unrealistic to say "ignore the trolls" like some kind of mantra while you apply one standard to the regs (Be Goooood!) and another to the trolls (Do What You Like Until We Have Time To Dump You).

That's like being a playground monitor and telling one group, "Don't react when they kick you" and telling another "Don't kick them, until we tell you to stop."

Honestly, I would like to see volunteer moderation extended to the mains, for comment deletion and troll-zapping. It would give the Hounds some breathing room in terms of their time commitments but also keep the delicate balance between defending regulars and assailing trolls.

It's worked on the OT. Why not try it on the mains?
