Dear Ellen and other mods;
I know you read this blog and I am truly Grateful for that. But the time has come if I may borrow from John McCain, for a little ride on the straight talk express. You can read comments from regulars of your site, people who SUPPORT what it is you do and you can see they are not happy. If anything I believe they are either very angry, or very confused. I must admit personally to being both. This however has nothing to do with them. The only opinion expressed here is mine and mine alone.
After telling a regular to stop flaming the rhetoric earlier today there were over a 100 comments left many of which contained far more rhetoric than anything this regular said. Those comments, were left up for hours before they were finally erased, and not once did one of the moderators bother to reprimand the people leaving the comments. Now first of all I know asking truth-the anti-newshound to move on is a waste of breath. But I don't for one minute believe that NONE of the moderators were available to monitor the board tonight. making that excuse even less believable is there are only 2 threads taking comments and 1 of those is troll free. Bottom line maybe there are only 4 or 5 you but there are enough to take care of one thread. Hell get Chrish or Melanie to moderate the comments on other people threads they aren't doing anything else. Or would that break the show of solidarity?
The moderation of newshounds has become baffling to the point that it now seems that your goal is to actually rid your blog of your supporters and give parasites like truth and 2008 free run of the board. I really don't want to believe this is so but how else can you explain the fact that while trolls were posting all night long with with not a moderator to be found Once a moderator did come back and do their job who do you think they reprimanded? A regular! After reading the quotes left on your blog then reading this...

You'll have to excuse my language but my only reaction at this point is What the fuck? What The Fuck are you thinking with this strategy of ridding the board of regulars? What the fuck is the point of chasing regulars to Off topic where Mods have been known to follow those they dislike and ban people there? I suspect my very own days are numbered and I have posted one time tonight on the main board.
We were told by the one Moderator who actually seems to WANT to keep her readers that you're getting a new registration system. I hope this is true I want to see 2008 be gone as much as you do...well apparently MORE than you do, but is this strategy of chasing off regulars away to make sure you don't overload the new system? it must be.
Finally I want to point out you have recently had a falling out with a former guest blogger which I sided with the moderators on because I didn't like the fact this person went over to an enemy site to fight his battle. BUT one of the mods ALSO went over to that site to fight in that personal conflict. When I asked her why she did so she only responded by saying "I won't talk about anymore" It seemed to me at the time to be an ignorant thing for a mod to do. More Ignorant perhaps than a regular going over there to wage his battle. The only logic answer I could come up with is That mod just didn't know what else to do an just did the wrong thing. but that's the problem in a nutshell. You perform a valuable service but on the net side of things you just don't seem to have a clue about what you are doing. And if THIS is what you wanted to do then you are sabotaging your own effort from with in.

I too am bemused, confused, sometimes angry but mostly saddened that things have taken such an unfortunate turn. What has struck me over the past few days is the sheer lack of direct communication from most of the mods other than scoldings. If Donna hadn't mentioned that registration is coming we would still be in the dark. Similarly, the idea of some trusted and level-headed regulars helping out the mods has been brought up time and again not only recently but numerous times in the past - but to my knowledge the idea has never even been acknowledged, for yea or nay.
It seems to me that this whole issue deserves a sticky on the OT and/or a notice on the main page keeping us up to date with what the plans are, what is under consideration, or even a friendly word telling us that no final decisions have been reached yet. Lack of direct communication is only breeding negativity and ill-will. I think the loyal supporters of the Newshounds site deserve better than this.
One last word as regards the site going to hell - I am grateful to those that are trying to keep things going. But NOTHING yet on the SC primary!? Come ON!!! QED!
I jsut wish taht some mains regulars would stop kissing their asses over this. Take this for example:

Which would be a true statement,if it wasn't being use as a lame defense for the Blog-Nazi mentality that is going on. The poster in question has on numerous occasions engaged trolls with no remorse,and I don't blame said person. the trolls needed smacking,and they got it. Just stop defending the bullshit.
I'm frankly getting sick of the crap. And I've heard enough about how "mad" they are. I've been pissed off lots having troll shit flung at me,me firing back,and then I get my ass jumped and the trolls remain. The gals aren't Gods,they are people,and in the case of the regs vs trolls,they've been playing it wrongly from the getgo,and punishing the people who actually defend them.

Yakki that's human nature. I have always been the person who just has to say something when I felt an injustice directed towards me and quite frankly it's something that has bitten me many times. In school other children who wouldn't say what I had no problem saying and would ask me to say something to the teacher and I would...and invariably that same student would turn around and stab me in the back. It got to where I was afraid to say anything for anybody other than myself. Even now I always make sure to point out that I only express my own opinion. But it's clear others are just as upset as I am about this.
But one other thing I have learned for every loud mouth who is quick to squawk when an injustice is perceived (me) there are just as many people who have to use those situations to kiss just a little bit more ass and get in just a little better. It's just human nature my friend.

Now I have got a pretty good BS detector. it's not perfect but it's right way more than it's wrong and I trust it. My BS Detector is telling me that this is a little Eddie Haskelish snot troll who is basking in the current state of Newshounds because he/she succeeded in shutting the blog down. This posters reaks of Republican. Why is they never see what's posted by "the other side" Only what's posted by the regulars? fuck nut nad sack posting clowns like this.
However What is even more sad than posters like this is these are the posters newshounds wants. they value these posters more than you or I.

Well don't take this wrong friend. but I am grateful for that "hairy fat ass" and I appreciate the fact that you will never be meek and mild It's not in me either. It's got me in trouble but it is who I is.
One last thing and I know you will believe me. On more than one occasion After I have gotten in trouble on the mains I have sat and watched as troll after troll have stolen monikers, insulted and savaged regulars for hours on end before emailing the hounds. It continues. I email again...it continues after awhile I say fuck it I know how to get the mods here. I start insulting the troll back. ( I have even posted on the mains that I know my posts will bring the mods! No more than two minutes later here they come with their preaching book out telling me to stop engaging the trolls.
It's almost comical.

You may be right that it's a troll sockpuppetting a regular. I dunno. I've seen this same person(or persons) post myriad defenses in different threads sicne the whole shutdown thing,and it's got me rather stumped. I wouldn't have figured that this dude,who I ave much respect for his opinions,would go to ass licking and shit over the clear injustice of this.
I know well your childhood story man. Mine was much the same,only it was all me. I saw something I thought was bullshit,I let whomever it was have it. Classmates,teacehrs,principles,cops,whatever,lol. I've never pulled a punch in my life. If they can prove me wrong,then I'll gladly apologise,if they can't I expect their shit to cease.
I've never emailed the hounds about trolls though. I figure I shouldn't have to do that. And really,I don't feel it's that big a deal to worry about. The trolls come on,people intellectually whip their asses,they look stupid,and anyone else who steps on the blog will see they are nitwits. The only time it degenerates badly is when you get a shitstain like Zain laying out threats. All those checks his ass can't cash,and he was called quite handily on it.
Sometimes,IMO,a person can be too damn sensitive. Let the people who can handle the crap slinging do so,and just sweep the floor when you get time. It's not that big of a deal honestly.
