Lieberman, a self-proclaimed "independent Democrat" who was chosen by McCain to make the case against Obama at the Republican National Convention in early September, said his comments have been within bounds.

Funny, now he's playing kiss-ass once he's seeing that his own political future might be going the way of Sen. McCain's: down the toilet.

There have been like 60 Republicans who have endorsed Obama and Joe endorsing McCain.
Lieberman is reading the handwriting on the wall and trying to backpedal. It won't work. He and McCain will be reduced to eating their PB&Js on the steps of the Capitol while the freshly-minted majority steps in and gets things done.
Do I sound like I'm gloating? Maybe I am. Lieberman has been scum since the 2006 election when he put his own ego over the will of his supposed party, and I look forward eagerly to his complete marginalization and eventual obscurity. (And, yes, to our Kim doing her local part to give him the boot!)
In the second debate John kept bringing up Joe L. He must have brought him up 15 times. And at the time I kept saying that is so stupid to bring up Lieberman because that guy is an albatross. Republican's don't trust him and Democrats can't stand him.
Johnny must have got the message because for the third debate Lieberman was dropped for a guy called Joe The Plumber who was neither named Joe nor a Plumber.
And even there he can't shake old habits, Count! All he could do was trade one "Joe" for another - whose actual name happens to be "Sam."
If McCain could time-travel, I like to think the man we saw in 2000 would be wincing at the man we see today.
I don't know if the John McCain we are seeing today isn't what John McCain has been all along.I think that honorable Maverick we've heard so much about might have been be the mythical John McCain all along.
When John McCain campaigned for George W. Bush after what Rove and Bush did him that told me all I needed to know.
I can think of only one good thing to say about John McCain. He tried to clean up the sport of Boxing. Some of the sports true criminals like Don King were so scared of him getting elected President in 2000 that Don King of all people went around campaigning for George W. Bush yelling "only in America" and "Go W"
But ultimately John McCain failed there too. Boxing is a sport that I am not sure wants to be cleaned up and honestly though as a fan of the sport I am a dying breed...I am not sure it's governments place to be the ones to clean it up. So maybe I shouldn't praise John there either.

True that, though, Count. McCain bought so much into his American Hero narrative, it became his reality. And about as substantial as the results of any reality show you care to name.
