Song of the Night - Soothing melodies for a Friday Night

I've got a couple of songs to sooth the nevers after a tiring week.

First up: Most bands who come out with a chart-topping hit that eveyone has heard about, that everoyone loves, and that everyone will want to hear, no matter what said band puts out in the future, it's only natural that they refuse to ever sing it again during one of their sets (think Nirvana with "Smells Like Teen Spirit" or Radiohead with "Creep"). Coldplay bucks this trend: they see that "Yellow" is the reason why they broke out in the first place, so give the fans what they want. "Yellow" comes off of the band's debut album back in 2000 called Parachutes, and frontman Chris Martin himself said it's one of the top three favorite songs he's written.

Next on the list - This woman takes the term "one-man band" to a new level, having written, recorded, mixed, and played most the instruments herself. I keep harping on the fact that she's best best female singer-songwriter you've never heard of, only beacuse I want you to listen to her, and that in this era of crap paraded out by Ke$sha (yes, that's how you spell her name), Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, and the like, she's an oasis in a barren desert in the female music scene. It's Imogen Heap with "Hide and Seek", off her sophmore album Speak For Yourself, one of the most original works to come out of the 00's.
