So you're a huge fan of the 007 franchise....I like it as well. Hell, i'm a Harry Potter and semi-anime fanboy myself, and I make zero apologies for it.

I don't apologize for being a fan Jonathan. What I meant by that comment about "fan-boys" is the people who call themselves fans who bitch about everything. Typically they hang out on the internet. They know every single thing about every single thing even though they don't seem to like any of it.

I can't tell you how many times I read Commander Bond and seriously wonder why these people spend their lives talking about something that they can't seem to stand.

Thankfully there doesn't seem to be as many James Bond fan boys as there are say Star Wars fan boys or Star Trek fan boys but they are out there.

No Phantom Menace was not as good as Star Wars but not for one minute do I blame George Lucas for the fact that I am no longer 10. Nor have I accused him of stealing my 10th Birthday away from me.

So basically I am a fan a huge fan but I don't dress up in a Tux to go to the movies I can't recite huge chunks of dialog verbatim and I Honestly like Moonraker space Hitler and all. Oh and for the record...yes it's the worst of the six Star Wars movies by a pretty fair margin...But I liked Phantom Menace But I still won't dress up as Anakin Skywalker.

I will say this. There is one James Bond Movie that divides the hardcore James Bond fans with less fervent James Bond Fan and that is On her Majesty's Secret Service. The hard core fans love it and consider it if not these best than one of the best movies of the series. The general fans consider it one the worst movies in the series.

This is one case where I 100% agree with the hard core JB community. I love the film.

One last comment about "fan-boys" I promise. All of us have some that in us and frankly I have a ton. So Maybe I should just shut up huh? :) naw I hope you get my point. :)

Ok I lied sorry. :) This is a quote from "Zencat" On Commanderbond.net and he says perfectly the way I feel.

IMO, that's the key to understanding why long time fans are continually disappointed. It's not just that you want films to measure up to those first magic movies (and books), it's that you want them to repeat the magic as seen through 10-year-old eyes, which will never happen. Wait another 10 years and look at these boards and you'll hear fans in their 30s bemoaning how the current films just don't measure up to the magic of seeing GoldenEye in 1995. The movies still work their magic. This site and all the young people here are evidence of that.

For us older fans...I don't know what to tell you. It's probably healthy that the current films (or books) don't work in the way they once did. But for me, and my arrested development, I can still catch a taste in the new. And the fact that I can still feel, if just for a second, the Bondian purity of experience I felt watching The Spy Who Loved Me in 1977...it's like a minor miracle and I just go wild (and, yes, my critical faculties revert to a time when I didn't have any critical faculties -- just a love of fun and fantasy).

However, I think DMC (Devil May Care) genuinely kicks [censored] and will be that magic first book experience for many young fans.

I think I know where you're getting at.
I always thought being a fan-boy made you some kind of a geek, but i'm starting to embrace that side of me.
