A tale of two sports radio hosts

A while back, I said that I liked Colin Cowherd and Michelle Beadle's show on ESPN2, and I still do. But listening to some clips from Cowherd make me realize that I like him less on the radio, after hearing him rip Star Wars geeks and the New York Mets.

I've heard this rant on Star Wars nerds before. Jim Rome did it last year when Dodger stadium did "Star Wars night" at the Revine while the team was in the middle of the Division race.

Cowherd just comes off as a Van Smack wannabe and to be honest, it's a little irritating.

Shouldn't you be worrying about the Idiot Messiah's failure to close Gitmo within a year? Remember how horrible it was that Gitmo was open during President Bush' administration? Haven't heard much about THAT lately.

Idiot Messiah: Liar.

Look, freak:
I'll talk about whatever the fuck I feel like sharing on this blog. If you don't like it, start your own.

Fuck off, anonymous.

I don't care for either to be honest with you. I used to love Rome but now his act has worn thin.

They both sound to me like losers, to be honest. How's it any skin off their noses if grown adults like to dress up in costumes, collect cheesy action figures (hey - that's my misspent youth becoming my daughter's college fund you're talking about, dude!),and indulge a shared interest?

I've been going to SF conventions for decades...though it's been far too long since the last time. And I can tell you that (a) it's always the most outrageous, beyond-the-pale people that the media put in the spotlight, as opposed to the general attendance, because, let's face it, people speaking Klingon and wearing Yoda ears trump normal people in jeans and t-shirts; and (b) attendees at these events are people with a passionate interest, boundless creativity, a genuine sense of community, and...oh, yeah. They READ.

Tell that to the clever boy having so much fun looking for wacky pix on the Internet to illustrate his faux point.

Hate to break it to these two hosts, Jonathan. But it's real life. And in real life, the nerds win.

Just like everybody else in the Radio biz ET they say thinks to get people to listen and often that means saying things to piss off half the audience.
