Well,I have my own see.

:D

That said,I wouldn't be too mean to anyone. I'm rather fuzzy and cuddly in fact.

Jeremiah seems to have taken a dislike tome for some reason.

And I have done nothing, absolutely nothing to earn such.

Oh well.

Did you see my convo with him? And can you explain his abortion counter?

This is what Jeremiah has said to me:

Sure you're confused, you've been brainwashed by your Liberal handlers.

Believe buddy, I can see right through you. Jonathan introduced you over at Blogs for Victory, poor ol' boy, I feel sorry for him, you know he's got in with the wrong crowd when he gets in with people like you.

Remember what you said? "You're preachin' to the choir" LOL!

You hypocrite.

[Ed. Note: This is the last post, I appreciate you taking the time to comment, but you're not going to hijack my site. Thanks for playing.]

And all that, without being able to point to a single post I ave made to him or others on his blog, that is disrespectful, vulgar,or off topic.

I think he just doesn't like people providing valid counterpoints to his sometimes specious arguments.

Count,no I cannot explain it. Of course I cannot explain much of what he's saying even to me.

It's no good though. Despite my rational counterpoints,he has decided that my respectful postings were the "last straw",so to speak.

And all because I know Jonathan, lol. As if I'm somehow channelling him.

And as far as what Jeremiah "sees through",I wasn't aware that I was glass. Nor are my arguments, which seem to be the real problem he has with me.

Of course a person would not want to deal with rational arguments when they are enjoying the echo-chamber of their own thoughts.

BTW Count, there's a new post on Ill Repukes pertaining to this debacle.

This inability of folks like Jeremiah to say "Believe as you please" without tacking on, to the end of it, "just so long as you agree with everything I believe" is very small-minded. It does nothing to advance genuine religious discourse AND, if you ask me, shows a certain core of disrespect for the creation he believes God provided. Where's the humility?

There is a mindset by some on newshounds, and these are great people otherwise, that anybody who believes in a "God" is crazy, Misguided, loony, and there are times I feel like the people who are so sure God doesn't exist and scorn those who believe as crazy are just as wrong as Jeremiah here if not just as crazy.

I am not knocking their belief that there is no God I just wish sometimes they would figure out that not all of us who believe think like Jeremiah.

I battle that with my daughter all the time, Count. Between me (fiercely independent Pagan) and her Dad (recovering Irish - and I mean literally FROM Ireland - Catholic), she's developed quite a streak of sarcasm for those who present themselves as true believers. This year's curriculum has been good for helping mitigate that. Her Social Studies class is working on the Reformation right now (they all had to write a speech in the topic/style of Martin Luther) and earlier this year they went on a field trip to a Catholic cathedral, Lutheran church, Jewish synagogue and Muslim mosque. Picture that enlightening and useful trip happening in your typical U.S. school...er, not so much.

Anyway, point is, I have to spend extra effort to make it clear to her that people need to make up their own minds about religious issues and not all people of faith are blind lemmings, but have invested lots of exploration and thought and emotion in their decisions.

It's unfortunate that the least tolerant and understanding voices are often among the more vocal ones when it comes to religion, particularly mainstream faiths.

For me, "So you harm none, do what you will" still works pretty well on the whole. It's not easy to live up to, but like anything else meaningful, it's worth pursuing.

I am going to sit down sometime and try and write my feelings on faith and religion. Which by the way are not the same things...not even close.

[not the same things...not even close]

If a pagan may venture to say so, Count, "amen" to that.

as of this moment,Jeremiah is refusing to print any of my responses, yet is responding to my questions and comments as if I can respond to him.

Thus giving the illusion that he is "winning" the argument.

I posted a comment calling him what he obviously is: a coward.

Is it just me and my browser, or does his site display extremely strangely? I seem to have to scroll down a page's worth of "dead air" to arrive at current content.

Then again...that may be poetic justice in play.

OOPS ok, I guess I must be one of the ones you're talking about. That's cool. What you're saying is fair. It just that most of my life I have had this issue pushed at me and I am sick of it.

People who "have" religion and/or faith, at least the ones I have come across can be so damn self righteous and arrogant. I guess I come off that way too.

The O/T would be a good place to debate this. We all just might learn something.

and yet, both you and Jeremiah are such cowards that you can't face a single individual? Of course, seeing as I brought rational thought process with me,and logic,I can see why.

Run back to Jeremiah and tell him a little something for me:

He's still a coward.

Anonymous said...

Yes Jonathan,he actually said that.

And I challenged him to point to any post where I was disrespectful or vulgar, and he could not.

So,the only reason for his actions and atitude is that he had nothing with which to argue, and was tired of having his ass handed to him. Well,Jeremiah and his little echo-chamber nut-buddies.

Thank goodness I don't have to associate with people like him very often.
