Thoughts On Bullying

Bullying as always been there but it seems it's getting to be an epidemic or we are just hearing about it more? In may ways I blame the parents all the way around The parents of the bully because 9 times out of 10 that's where the bullying came from. To a lesser extent the parents of the child being bullied for not giving the child some sense of self worth especially if the bullied child takes the actions to the point of injury or worse suicide. We know that many parents just flat don't give a shit about their child and can not be bothered to take part in their lives. The child being bullied in school and ignored at home is the one likely to take extreme actions. The people I blame the most are school administrators. What are they doing? Teachers, Principals, Guidance Councilors where are they? Don't tell me they don't see what is going on.

What are your thoughts on the subject...

And while I know nothing about the Count, because the Count hides his personal information, while reminding everyone he knows everything about you (failed attempts at intimidation are also common in bullies), I hope to hell that he has no children, nor ever does. The line “We know that many parents just flat don't give a shit about their child and can not be bothered to take part in their lives” says so much about the Count and his general disdain for humanity. It sounds like he may have some childhood issues to resolve, and I’ll give you that there are good parents and there are bad, and a few that are really, really bad. But the vast majority care deeply for their children and want nothing but the best for them. Some of these folks, a poor single mother working two or three jobs to raise her kids, probably doesn’t have the means or opportunity to take care of those kids like she wishes to, but don’t tell me she doesn’t give a shit.

A day or two ago the Count had a post called “Pot Kettle Black”. Might I suggest he use that title again for his bullying “story”.

Thank you for chiming in and adding nothing Bob.

As for people not knowing my personal information would you like directions to my house? The other contributors to this blog know where I live (what town) what my names and what I look like pretty poor for somebody who hides his personal information.

Yes, but to the people that you are insulting know who you are? No, of course not, because if they did you would never say the things you say. That's the worst kind of a bully, one that is SO brave hiding behind his little cartoon character, and wouldn't have the nerve to say 95% of his shit to someones face.

Do I want to know your name, where you live, etc... Hell, I could care less.

You know, maybe that's the problem with bullying. Apparently the bullies have no idea that they are bullies.

And as I predicted, the count censors out half of my responses. How can someone be a bully and a chicken shit at the same time?

Wait you call me a Chickenshit but I am insulting you? OK.

Don't think I haven't noticed that my innocent question about what to do about bullying bothered Bob so much. Tells me a lot about his child hood.

Bob I am sorry I opened up so many old wounds and brought back memories of the little girls who used to beat you up and steal your lunch money. You've made your point whatever that might be. From now one your posts will be erased.

Does anybody with an IQ higher than 4 have anything to say about this very serious subject?

Wow, you really are chicken shit, aren't you. Are you really that insecure. I guess you are.

Well Count, you have a good life. I've wasted more time on you than anyone should ever spend on such a pathetic loser. And hey, feel free to spin this as a "I got the best of Bob" moment. I know how important any "win" is to you, regardless of there being any reality in the situation.

Nobody has any thoughts on the subject?

The most damaging bullying is, I believe, psychological, and in our personal experience didn't really begin to kick in until middle and now high school. In the wired world we live in, it's possible for it to circulate completely off the observable grid for school admins, teachers and counselors, from one text to the next. And I think even at our school, where the bent is academic and the environment on the whole MUCH more healthy than at your average US public school, there's a degree to which the school and many parents both fling up their hands in a certain helplessness about what to do.

I wish we could just pop them in suspended animation until something like age 25 and let them emerge from their cocoons at that time, without navigating this ugliness. Sadly, we can't.

I don't know that bullying is something we can completely eradicate. There's a little "Lord of the Flies" in everyone...

Thank you for lending some sanity to what I hoped would be a sane thread ET.

I've been bullied before.
7th grade is when it was really rough for me.
Dad got wind that I was a target in school and taught me to defend myself.

I would say the same thing to anyone who is a victim of bullying: don't take shit from any kid that thinks it's fun because they have to feel strong by beating up on someone who is considered weak.
