Best Star Trek Movie Ever?

The only Star Trek movies i've watched were: The Wrath of Khan, Generations, First Contact, Insurrection, and Nemesis, and in honor of the release of J.J. Abram's Star Trek in two days, what do you think is the best Star Trek Movie ever?

Well I have seen all 6 with the old cast and I would have to say 2 and 4 were the best. The first Star Trek movie was surprisingly shitty. I liked 3 and 5 more than most. I only saw the 6th movie once. Maybe I should dig it out and watch it again.

The first one was awful. 20 minutes of reverential special-effects panning around the Enterprise in dock honestly felt like 200...and I have always been a fan! "Wrath of Khan" gets my vote for the best of the lot. The crew is always at their best when they have a compelling adversary, and I think both Shatner and Montalban enjoyed their respective chewing-up of the scenery.

I have felt pretty doubtful about this newest one - the Star Wars prequels did not bode well for anyone else's attempts to fill out the backstory for an iconic tale - but the reviews I've read so far have been positive enough that I'm thinking maybe I'll give it a whirl. The one thing you can definitively say about films like this is that they should be seen in a theatre: they need that scope.

How come nobody likes me? Is it because I am an asshole? Is it the smell?

Another question from The Ranger.

I'm delighted to say how Proven Wrong I was! I absolutely loved this latest Trek iteration. It stayed faithful to the spirit and tone of the original without completely negating or overturning the existing canon. Just the right balance of familiarity, freshness, snark and drama. Two thumbs way up! I think Khan may have been toppled.
