The Difference Between A Liberal and A Conservative

A Liberal seeks solutions to a problem and tries to fix it while a Conservative bitches and moans about the problem and does nothing. Then after a Liberal fixes the problem the Conservative takes the credit.

One more thing...

why is it the people who scream Freedom isn't free refuse to serve in the military and hate paying taxes?

A liberal also collects and acts upon factual evidence in a spirit of the common good. Whereas a conservative (at least as presently constituted) takes on faith anything that supports their chosen ideology regardless of the actual facts, and obstructs action in a spirit of "I've got mine: no pie for you!"

And another big of cognitive dissonance that has always bothered me: most conservatives take the position that they want to get government completely out of everyone's life. Unless it comes to insisting on institutionalized prayer in the halls of said government, the mandatory teaching of creationism to our kids, and telling you what kind of relationship you can as consenting adults engage in, with whom, and what you can or cannot do when pregnancy is the result. Yup - that's sure some hands-off government right there...

I made a comment on twitter that anybody in a rural area of the United States ought to thank the Government when they turn their lights on or turn on their computers. A conservative ask me why? I said because It was a government program that gave you electricity. I am sure in the 1930's there were tea-baggers complaining about the fact they were about to get government electricity but after they saw how great it was they said look what we did!

There are a couple of great posts making the online rounds about the teabaggers getting up to drink their potable water and inspected food, driving on highways patrolled by police, past public schools and firehouses and post offices and libraries, all to holler down a congressperson with insistent cries that government programs are never effective or beneficial.

Snerf!
