I Bet Jerry Is Pissed

Christian Marriage In Trouble

SAN FRANCISCO - California's Supreme Court declared that gay couples in the nation's biggest state can marry — a monumental but perhaps short-lived victory for the gay rights movement Thursday that was greeted with tears, hugs, kisses and at least one instant proposal of matrimony.

— religious and social conservatives are pressing to put a constitutional amendment on the ballot in November that would undo the Supreme Court ruling and ban gay marriage.

"Essentially, this boils down to love. We love each other. We now have equal rights under the law," declared a jubilant Robin Tyler, a plaintiff in the case along with her partner. She added: "We're going to get married. No Tupperware, please."

Poor Jerry. I bet He doesn't know whether to pray extra hard tonight or pack up quick and head to California.

Oh, yes. Jer is shivering in his shoes at this moment with trepidation that two people who love one another being able to publicly acknowledge that love will lead to the end of the world as he knows it.

Actually, the end of the world as HE knows it might not be a bad thing, on balance.

Good on the California supremes. May more states follow.

For the record I have no problem with "homosexual" Marriage. I think if Conservatives really cared about the sanctity of marriage they would stop having 6 of them a piece.

The so-called "Christian Conservatives" couldn't care less about the "sanctity of marriage" per se. Their chief worry is that individuals of the same sex who avow their love for one another might SOMEHOW achieve legal legitimacy in the public sphere. Because you just KNOW that such an event would lead to the breakdown of the family unit, utter societal decay, and the dissolution of Democracy as we know it.

I fail to comphrehend how what committed and loving adults do in the privacy of their bedrooms at night (and in the likewise privacy of their tax return, by day) remotely threatens traditional couples.

But, then, I don't think of it as my role to enforce my morality on the populace as a whole.

Exactly what about the Separation of Church And State do these guys just not understand??

You don't enforce your mores on me. I don't enforce mine on you. What about this simple axiom do you morons just Fail To Comprehend?

Oh...maybe ALL OF IT?

(pounds head against wall)

Well, same-sex marriage does inevitably lead to the utter breakdown of decent society as we know it. Look at what happened in Canada.

Actually, nothing happened in Canada. Sorry to disappoint Jerry.

One of Ontario's senior cabinet ministers just married his gay partner and no one's even batted an eye.

Ahnold has stated that he will not support a constitutional amendment to counteract the ruling.

It's really surprising how good a governor he's turned out to be.
