Wednesday Open Thread

So Nebraska blew a 18 point lead tonight and lost to A&M at the buzzer on a three pointer. I took the loss well. I threw a bunch of books and CD's. Anyway Nothing makes you feel better after a swift kick in the nards than to read the NH Off Topic Neocon Wingnut HOF Quotes Thread. Most of the credit goes to Roach and MJ.

I start with this.

OBOMBa is another blood lusting war mongrel with a different title. Right- left, dem-rep, conservative-liberal, gay-straight, white-black, etc, etc, our country is divided. Divided for a reason. Divided We Fall, and the free-fall has began. The crash-landing will not be pleasant. One gets what one deserves, and no god in his/her mind will save us now. So keep bickering over the details on whose fault it is. The civil war has begun. Compliments of the msm, and the fools of america.

Good Ole ETJ. He's the Newshounds Ayn Rand. He hates everybody. I bet he's a thrill at parties.

The jury has already decided.

The Moderator's Privilege Quorum has made its findings on the Pegleg Peggy Matter.

Item 1: Pegleg Peggy twiced called J$ a liar for saying her message was not posted because of a violation of the rules regarding language. Finding: The respondent attempted to post a message that referred to Steve Doocy as "Douchey". The respondent claims there was no inappropriate language in her post, but the rules are clear:

We've had our fill of the insipid FNC insult phrases that pervade the cybersphere, and they will not be permitted here. These include, but are not limited to, such knee-slappers as "Faux News", "O'Lielly", "Fixed Noise", "David Ass-Man", "Billo" and the like, as well as disguised versions such as "F!x;d N0;s;" etc.

The respondent's insult to Steve Doocy is clearly inappropriate and not allowed under the rules of posting. The respondent nonetheless claimed that J$ was a liar. The Quorum finds this claim to be: False

Verdict: Pegleg Peggy was given repeated opportunities to retract her name-calling and false personal attack on J$ and refused to do so. Under the rules of Moderator's Privilege, her posting privileges will not resume while she spends a lovely, relaxing time at Exile Island.

The Quorum has spoken.

You people are slobbering your way into a socialist quagmire when you lose everything but your shirt. Obama is a disaster! Whoever "made up" the approval ratings must be living in a hole. Wake up people! Wall street is crashing and you will all fall with it....until you find yourself marching for a dictator and wondering where your freedom and personal responsibility went...

Why does this website exist? Why are you trying to snuff out the conservative voice in this country? You all sound like a bunch of socialist/communists to me!
01.XX.MMXIII | 02.23.09 - 1:15 pm | #

Hold on, we can have our differences but to compare a conservative to Hitler is simply ridiculous. It shows how little you know of history and Nazi Germany.

Let's start with the word Nazi. Nazi is short for Nation Socialist Workers Party. Hitler nationalized health care and major industries, he halted free speech (fairness doctrine anyone?), and outlawed firearms. He was a socialist and stated in no uncertain terms that he despised capitalism.

That doesn't sound like any conservative I've ever heard of. Come to think of it, it sounds a lot like the philosophy of the current administration.

Yeah guys, real great posts, I've learned nothing. You've done nothing to differentiate Hitler's policies from Obama's. You don't even know why Hitler invaded Poland yet you immediately drew a comparison between Hitler and Bush. I can only assume that's what a bumper sticker told you to think.

Now sit back and let me educate you. Hitler invaded Poland as part of a deep seeded hatred for Germany's loss of the Danzig region as a result of the Treaty of Versailles. He writes all about it in his book. He felt the Polish were only good as slaves and corpses and wanted them exterminated. He wanted to punish other countries for supporting the treaty.

So let's compare and contrast:
Hitler invades Poland with the idea of enslaving a nation and systematically murdering the people.

Bush invades a nation with the idea of liberating people from a dictator who enslaved and systematically murdered his own people. I don't see how you can draw a comparison.

Yes Nayef, I can speak to the differences in O'Reilly's comments, and Hitler's actions. The fact you need it explained to you speaks volumes about your mental capacity.

O'Reilly was referring to the already established base of power that has historically existed in this country. We were a nation built by white, christian men. He said illegals were a threat to that traditional base. Hitler actively rounded up people that he didn't like, put them in camps, tortured and executed them. Quite a bit different.

Someone up there asked of something Obama has done which is similar to Hitler....how about giving $900 million of US taxpayer money to Palestine? Did you know that the 6th best selling book in Palestine is Mien Kampf? Imagine that.

Cypher and finalfurlong - "We are socialists, we are enemies of today's capitalistic economic system for the exploitation of the economically weak, with its unfair salaries, with its unseemly evaluation of a human being according to wealth and property instead of responsibility and performance, and we are all determined to destroy this system under all conditions" - Adolph Hitler. Sure sounds like a right-winger to me. Me doth think you make stuff up.

ProfessorDuh - "Nazis and other anti-Semitic fascists, considered finance capitalism a "parasitic" "Jewish conspiracy". Fascist governments nationalized some key industries, managed their currencies and made some massive state investments. Fascist governments introduced price controls, wage controls and other types of economic interventionist measures. Fascist governments instituted state-regulated allocation of resources, especially in the financial and raw materials sectors." Conservatives don't promote that.

Glenn Beck said time and time again "I am not saying this will happen. I hope it doesn't happen." So I don't know how you can say he's a warmonger and calling for civil war.

Glenn Beck WAS on George W. Bush's case all throughout his presidency, detailing each and every abuse of power and waste in spending.

Glenn Beck would still be on CNN if he didn't get sacked. Thankfully he's on Fox News now because he stands up to O'Reilly! He tells O'Reilly when he's wrong and it kills O'Reilly that he can't do anything about it since Beck is now on Fox News.

Glenn Beck presents issues and stories, and sides of issues and sides of stories that you will not get anywhere else (esp. if you watch the O'Reillys and Hannitys, Olbermans and Maddows).

If you actually watched his program he will, time and time again, say he hopes he is wrong, that he hopes the "stimulus" actually works, and that you should take what he says with a grain of salt.

It's almost 5pm EST -- time to get ready for his show!

Roachman asks...

A Glen Beck employee? Probably Damail

Hey Donqui, http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/...-in- Arabic.html I don't assume everyone is ignorant, only liberals. Hitler and the Palestinians shared a common goal, the killing of Jews. Now Obama is funding the Palestinians. Solid.

And to everyone that brings up the slaves.....they were freed by a republican.

It took a Republican president to send the National Guard down to a southern school to force a democrat Governor to allow black kids into an all white school.

Keep electing Robert Byrd who once said, "I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.”

— Robert C. Byrd, in a letter to Sen. Theodore Bilbo (D-MS), 1944

That Glen Beck is such a sweaty. I found this going through my LJ...

http://stephist.livejournal.com/2005/09/09/

BECK: Let me be real honest with you. I don't think anybody on talk radio -- I don't think anybody in their right mind is going to say this out loud -- but I wonder if I'm the only one that feels this way. Yesterday, when I saw the ATM cards being handed out, the $2,000 ATM cards, and they were being handed out at the Astrodome. And they actually had to close the Astrodome and seal it off for a while because there was a near-riot trying to get to these ATM cards. My first thought was, it's not like they're going to run out of the $2,000 ATM cards. You can wait! You know, stand in line. Maybe it's because I'm the kind of guy, when I go to a buffet, I either have to be first in line, or I'm the very last. Because I know there's going to be extra food, and I just won't stand in the line. I'll wait until all the suckers go get their food, and then I'll go get mine. Or if I'm really hungry, I hate to admit this -- and really, I don't even have to be really hungry. If I'm really being a pig, I will kind of, like, hang out around the buffet table before the line is -- you know, chat with people right around the table: "Oh, they just opened the line! Let's go!" And then you're first in line.

When you are rioting for these tickets, or these ATM cards, the second thing that came to mind was -- and this is horrible to say, and I wonder if I'm alone in this -- you know it took me about a year to start hating the 9-11 victims' families? Took me about a year. And I had such compassion for them, and I really wanted to help them, and I was behind, you know, "Let's give them money, let's get this started." All of this stuff. And I really didn't -- of the 3,000 victims' families, I don't hate all of them. Probably about 10 of them. And when I see a 9-11 victim family on television, or whatever, I'm just like, "Oh shut up!" I'm so sick of them because they're always complaining. And we did our best for them. And, again, it's only about 10.

But the second thought I had when I saw these people and they had to shut down the Astrodome and lock it down, I thought: I didn't think I could hate victims faster than the 9-11 victims. These guys -- you know it's really sad. We're not hearing anything about Mississippi. We're not hearing anything about Alabama. We're hearing about the victims in New Orleans. This is a 90,000-square-mile disaster site, New Orleans is 181 square miles. A hundred and -- 0.2 percent of the disaster area is New Orleans! And that's all we're hearing about, are the people in New Orleans. Those are the only ones we're seeing on television are the scumbags -- and again, it's not all the people in New Orleans. Most of the people in New Orleans got out! It's just a small percentage of those who were left in New Orleans, or who decided to stay in New Orleans, and they're getting all the attention. It's exactly like the 9-11 victims' families. There's about 10 of them that are spoiling it for everybody.

Now what this mean from the Fan perspective

Nebraska QB Witt decides to transfer

Anonymous said...

Well...what little Witt played this year didn't inspire confidence. He fumbled several snaps against New Mexico State one of which was returned to the three yard line which set up their only score. In The Gator bowl the one play Ganz missed because he was knocked silly Witt took off on a 3rd and 7 fumbled and Clemson returned it for what would have most likely been the game winning score except the replay showed he had hit the ground before he fumbled.

According to the Lincoln Journal Star Witt's dad had tried to hold Bo Pelini Hostage...

http://huskerextra.com/articles/2009/02/24/football/doc49a357538142c306208096.txt

Gene Witt, the player’s father, confirmed Sunday his son is leaving Lincoln in May after finishing the semester. According to sources close to the situation, the sophomore-to-be firmly believed he wouldn’t receive a fair shake in the quarterback competition. Witt feared the coaching staff strongly favored junior-to-be Zac Lee.

There was another issue, one that ultimately spelled doom for the relationship.

According to a source close to the Nebraska program, Witt and his father sought assurance from Husker coaches that the coaches would name the starting quarterback at the end of spring practice. That way, if Witt wasn’t named starter, he presumably could arrange to transfer, or at least evaluate his situation.

Nebraska coach Bo Pelini declined to address the matter Monday. But the source said Pelini informed the Witts that it was highly unlikely (read: forget it, guys) that he would release Patrick from his scholarship if Patrick made such a request at the end of spring drills. Pelini apparently loathed the idea of Witt going through spring practice while considering a transfer. So, Pelini forced Witt’s hand before spring drills began.

The general feeling in the fan community is that Witt was one of the last remaining symbols of the all about me "Callahan's regime".

Does anybody else think that J$'s "Quorum" stuff reeks of grade school playgrounds and kids starting this or that "Club" of the moment based on whatever lame thing comes to mind? It's such a desperate plea for status and legitimacy. Kind of hard not to laugh.

I am sorry ET. I am not quite sure to what you are referring :)

Being lower then Mikey is pretty low on the human evolutionary scale.
