A City So Cursed It Makes Buffalo Feel Better About Itself

The Count is NOT a baseball fan but he peaked in on the 19 inning 7 and half hour one game play off between the Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers off and on all night and the last time he saw the MInnesota Twins celebrating the fact they get to go get swept by the Yankees and was not surprised at all. The Detroit Tigers lead their division the entire year and because they are Detroit they folded down the stretch so now they had a one game playoff to have one brief moment of glory for a city that has had none to speak of since 2005. Surely Detroit could give their people one night to cheer their city one night to be proud...Of course not.

I actually feel sorry for Detroit. Oh by the way...Baseball sucks.

This Could Be Fun

Fox Fan 23 Loves Glenn Beck

Glenn Beck speaks the truth, maybe liberals can't hear
it because they have their heads up their butts!

This could be quite good I hope the mods leave it up.

Open Thread - Week 4 in the NFL

Feel free to discuss anything football.

Couple of good games today: Peyton & Joseph Addi dismantles the Seahawks D, 34-17; Eli beats KC 26-17, but injures his heel in the process; Pats upset Flacco and the Ravens 27-21.

Late Edit by Jonathan: I have been proudly watching Charger football going back to the era of Ryan Leaf and the 1-15 season. I've seen San Diego go from laughingstock to of of the most potential, and feared teams in the league within the course of a decade. I've watched some miraculous comebacks and truly great moments that made be proud to bleed blue and gold, but in all the years i've watched Charger football, I have never been this disgusted or ashamed of my beloved Bolts until tonight, which will be known to me as the Massacre at Heinz Field.

There was zero heart by the D-Line, the LB's, the secondary, the O-Line, and the running back (yes, I am sadly looking at you, Tomlinson). Even worse, had the defense bothered to show up in the second half, the Steelers would've experienced another choke-job in the 4th quarter and go 1-3. Rivers, the wide outs, the tight end, and the special teams did their part, but you can expect your QB to place the whole load on his shoulders, because he can only do so much.

And one more thing: A.J. Smith needs to be fucking fired by the end of the year. No excuses, no 'in his defense...' bullshit. If it wasn't for his inflated ego, Marty would still be the coach for San Diego, and we wouldn't be stuck with Turner (like and respect Norv, but he's not the man to take us where we need to be).

Capitalism A Love Story

Ok I saw it My shitty review.

* Minor Spoilers

Very good of course no surprise there it's not as humorous as Michael Moore's previous efforts...as a matter of fact it's actually quite depressing as any movie that tells the truth of Americas current state should be.

The film begins with an effective clip showing an old documentary about the fall of Rome and it shows the similarities to what is happening in America. It than goes on to give an honest assessment of the Reagan presidency and finally shreds the myth that the 80's were such a great decade. That alone get's it high marks in my eyes.

There was also a scene where the White House is burning down around George W. Bush as he is giving a scare speech about what would happen to America if we don't bail out the banks. I thought the scene was actually symbolic to what happen to America under Bush's watch.

There are the usual personal stories and Moore's gotcha journalism and a few dozen more mentions of Flint.

The film is largely absent of the humor of other Moore efforts. This is IMHO in many ways Moore's most depressing movie. In fact much of it succeeds in pissing you off more than anything. It seems odd that this movie would make you feel more sick about the state of America than sicko would yet it does.

I am not a believer in socialism or any "ism" in it's purest form. The film seems to call for a more socialistic stance than even I would agree with. For instance I do not believe we are "entitled" to a good job. I do however agree that like every other "ism" when taken to an extreme Capitalism is an inherent evil just as all "isms" are because ultimately they are ran by people and people are inherently evil especially when they are in the pursuit of power.

It's a good movie and an extremely important one. It's best quality is the fact that's it's perfect reminder of what the last 30 years in America have truly been about.

You won't laugh until it hurts...you'll get angry, feel sick, laugh a little than feel sick and angry again. Not Moore's best but maybe his most valuable. **** 1/2.

And a Quick question that has nothing to do with the movie for ET:

Saw where you are getting the Winter Olympics in your neck of the woods next winter are you planning on taking in any of the festivities?

More Beck

So Tonight I am at Books A Million and I see Glenn Beck smiling at me wearing nothing but a military uniform and a 40% off sticker...

Why is it the only time I see Blowhard Conservatives in a Military Uniform is when they are on the cover of a book?

Coming Tomorrow

May take advantage of Nebraska's bye week and go see this Saturday if I do I'll give my opinion. I know I can't see it Sunday cause we've got a birthday party and a the Nephews football game. Anyway IMHO Sicko is the best Michael Moore film with Roger and Me coming in a very close second and F 9-11 being a very close 3rd. I thought Bowling for Columbine was too drawn out and unfocused and was the worst of the films by a fairly wide margin.

Late edit by Jonathan:
also coming tomorrow:

Zombieland...think an American remake of Edgar Wright's classic, Shawn of the Dead.

And the the Coen Bros. 14th film, A Serious Man.

And You Wonder Why Conservative Trolls Are So Stupid.

Listen to their leaders. Watch as she takes her glasses off and strokes her hair for effect.
