Just released press memo from the RNC
Chairman Robert Duncan:
(Via email received today)
Subject: Shameless Liberal Media
Dear Friend,
The New York Times has proven once again that the liberal mainstream media will do whatever it takes to put Senator Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama in the White House.
From the beginning of Campaign 2008, liberal media pundits have fawned over the Democrat presidential candidates while ignoring their lack of substance on the issues. You can be certain that as the campaign heats up they will continue to mislead voters with their anti-Republican agenda.
Republicans must fight back against the mainstream media's clear liberal bias — and we need your help to do it. Please make an urgent secure online contribution. Your choice is clear:
1. NY Times subscription for a year
2) RNC donation (for the exact same amount)
Check your preference and send the money. The Times smears McCain, but that's just reporting the news. McCain and his spokesman say the smear is false and criticize the Times for publishing it, and that's a "deliberate...strategy to wage a war with the newspaper." So, was the original hit piece part of a deliberate strategy by the Times to wage war on the presumed Republican Presidential candidate? I think we all know the answer to that question.

A Call to Arms
"As you know, I'm the typical conservative who has not been happy with the McCain ascendancy, but the NYTimes has accomplished what Tojo did with Pearl Harbor. They have awoken a sleeping giant. We have been reminded who the real political enemy is and it is not Senator McCain."

Agreed.
Anyone being beaten up by the NYT can't be all bad.
I have changed my mind now. He is now forgiven. No one believed it when it first came up years ago.
My local paper picked up and carried the sexy parts.
The Times blew it, they are a sham, their McCain smear is coming apart at the seams faster than they are loosing readers.
On Fox News last night, Bob Bennett, who is representing McCain with respect to the Times story--that doesn't mean that he will sue the newspaper, as that is impossible under current law--said that the Times had lowered its standards by printing this rather absurd smear. That is incorrect, of course. The Times is a mouthpiece for the liberal wing of the Democratic Party, nothing more. Its smear of McCain--not the last, to be sure--is entirely consistent with the editorial policies it has maintained for many years. Tomorrow's story is just one more reminder of why no sophisticated person takes the Times seriously as a news source.
