Saint Joe Paterno retired today as a horrid sex scandal brings down Penn State University. Joe for is part wasn't a part of the act of raping 10 year old boys himself but he did almost nothing to bring it to the attention of the authorities. The question now is does Saint Joe survive the rest of the year before he retires? 1000's of idiot Penn State students marched on his lawn in support of the coach sending the message loud and clear that pedophilia is fine and dandy at their college as long as they're winning games. Now we know what becomes of the children of people like Blackflon and his little Iowa buddy they go to Penn State and cheer on enablers to unspeakable acts. As somebody who never did think Joe Paterno was all that damned classy to begin with as horrible as I feel for the victims, the real victims not Joe, I am enjoying just a little the vindication. Even though I never thought Joe was half the hero he snookered others into believing he was even I didn't think he was this much a choad.

Update: Joe Paterno is out as head coach of Penn State University. 

With all the support the child rapists apologists are getting tonight at Penn State you should rename it Blackflon University. 

Anyone honestly surprised by this story?

In case you don't know this man, he is Alabama's Attorney General Troy King. King is one of those crusading traditional conservatives, who rails on the gay/lesbian community, as demonstrated in an email he wrote to, The Crimson White, for having a gay/lesbian alliance on the campus of a college:

The existence of the Gay/Lesbian alliance on this campus is an affront to the state of Alabama, its citizenry, this diversity and its students. However, it is also an outrage to compel those students with both moral and religious objections to the activities and ideas espoused by this organization to contribute money, via student fees, to subsidize these activities.

One has but to look at the forces which the controversy has united--from the American Civil Liberties Union to the National Organization of Women to the Queer Nation just to name a few--to clearly see how corrupt a cause this truly is.

If you think his hangup on gays and lesbians stops there, well then you need to be reminded of his outrageous bill he helped pass, banning all sex toys in the state of Alabama - which was quickly overruled a year later.

Well, he's in the news today, and he's in quite the scandal: King was caught having (drumroll please...) homosexual sex with his gay male assistant!

This may come as a shock, but a prominent anti-homosexual Republican attorney general has apparently been caught having homosexual sex intercourse with his homosexual gay male assistant. Bonus: The dude’s wife caught him, in their bed. This is the rumor that the AG’s office has officially denied, so now of course everybody is spilling the sordid details.

AG in question is Troy King, who, of course, is only interested in outlawing homosexuality and sex toys. His gay lover is either a college “buddy,” or a very young youngster and “Homecoming King” from Troy University. What are the odds of a dude named Troy King getting caught in bed with a Homecoming King from Troy University?

Isn't there an old saying somewhere about those who live in a glass house shouldn't be throwing stones?

This Just In - The Right Wing Doesn't Get How Government Works!

From Raw Story comes news that shouldn't come as a surprise, but, amazingly, does.

It comes from wingnut poohbah Jim DeMint of South Carolina - that mythical land where "U.S. Americans, such as, don't have maps." It appeared in his comments today to the Federalist Society in DC. And it's about the Presidency.

Obama's a secret Muslim? Nope. Not born here? Not mentioned. In a criminal conspiracy to destroy the nation? Close, but not stated as such.

Turns out, it doesn't really matter...because the President isn't the leader of the country!

Read that last again. The individual occupying the post at the apex of the Executive branch, whose role is also described as "Chief Executive" and "Commander-in-Chief" and who hosts state dinners because, presumably s/he is considered the Head of State - that person is not the country's leader.

"This whole idea that the President is the leader of our country is a mistake," DeMint said during a speech to the Washington, DC chapter of the Federalist Society, according to Talking Points Memo.

"Leadership starts in the homes in the communities, in businesses, in churches," he said. "I've lived in a community and I know where the leaders are and it's not in Washington. And this pretense that he's our nation's leader... I'm not just talking about Obama, I'm talking about any President."

OK. Let's throw out that last line, right now, because this is sure not the kind of thing you heard from DeMint and his ilk during the Dubya years. In fact, in a piece from 2007, he takes candidates Clinton and Obama both to task for lacking in leadership, saying "It's amazing they can get out and say the president hasn't led when they haven't introduced anything serious since they've been there," and continues at length to describe Presidential mettle as requiring CEO-type experience. Because leading a company helps you lead a country, it seems. Or it did in 2007.

But let's say he's allowed to change his mind. Now, today, he doesn't think that the Presidency is a leadership role. It starts in homes, communities, businesses, churches. (Funny how many shots Obama took for having been a "community organizer" - sounds "leader-y," as a Sarah Palin might say, to me, going by DeMint's lexicon!) Apparently none of it is found in government.

Which begs the question...why does he want to stay in the Senate? Why was he, at one point, gunning for a "leadership" role there? What's he doing in government at all, if all the real leadership is elsewhere? Like so many Republicans, he has stepped into the ideological quicksand of supposedly wanting to shrink government down to its bare minimum while simultaneously spending a small fortune to get voters to ensure he continues to be a part of said government. It's like singing the praises of plain cheese pizza but then loading up on the toppings - or, hell, investing in a pizza-toppings company!

It gets better yet. Later in the speech, quoth DeMint:

After implying that the president has overreached in his desire to reform American society, DeMint curiously claimed Obama isn't going to lead and therefore should be replaced.

"It's pretty clear this President is not going to lead," he said. "We've got to replace this President."

OK, the Presidency is not, de facto, a leadership role. Yet Obama must be replaced, stat, because he's "not leading"?

Someone needs to sit down with DeMint and have the "words mean stuff" talk with him, making it clear that you can't describe a government office as two opposite things simultaneously, nor can you call for the ouster of its occupant for failing to demonstrate a quality that you claim isn't part of the job description anyway.

Someone give that U.S. American a map...and maybe the title of Miss Uncongeniality.

Fundie, Apparently Paralyzed

Again, our Jeremiah's silence compels me to dip into Fundies Say the Darndest Things for our latest dose of Fundamentalist Fury. Today's appears to hail from Australia but it is no less paranoid and self-loathing for that. Follow along with me, gentle reader, as we document the idiocies:

I see. The existence of porn, in any form, anywhere, prevents you from arising in the morning and going about your business? You might as well be incarcerated, you say? Curious. Say on!

It serves to remind me that western culture is no longer my home because I no longer move freely in it.

So you are prevented from going about your business. I'm still intrigued. Does a prostitute station herself outside your apartment door, barricading the way?

Last century, as I tried to live a life worthy of the Lord, a lot of things were going my way (at least, I understand they were; I wasn't there to enjoy it, but someone like me was).

*ahem* Before I even comment on referring to your life in a prior century during years you then claim you were not alive - which is nonsense galore, so I don't think I'll mention it after all - if you weren't there, as you say, then that makes you....like, ten. Or nine going on ten. Apparently porn is also interfering with your mathematical calculations.

I could walk into a newsagency, buy the paper, and walk out again without my ungodly thoughts being fuelled. Someone—the government!—was helping me, by not allowing material I didn't want to see to be displayed.

So suggestible, good sir? That the mere presence of porn pokes a sharp stick at your ungodly thoughts? I suppose I should rejoice that an Archie comic in the checkout aisle doesn't impel me to want to buy a denim-covered binder to doodle all over as I am irresistibly compelled to go back to algebra class...

And, yes, that government censorship that you weren't there to enjoy? All intended for and built around you and your wants/needs. Idiot.

But today, the relaxation of the censorship laws has meant steady erosion of my freedoms. I love film, but the proliferation of pornography has meant that I need to check every film I see carefully.

I believe it's called the ratings system. Also, film reviews. And you may have encountered something known as the Internet. I am told you can find plenty of film information there. What did you do before, in this increasingly mythical existence of yours? Just go to every film that appeared, without any knowledge as to what the plot involved? I'd give you a list of keywords you may want to avoid, but I don't think the Count wants that kind of Google search to pick up this blog...

I love the inner city, but the proliferation of sex shops have meant that I now have to keep accountable to friends at home about where I have spent my time.

Checking in with Mommy? Nanny? The nurse practitioners at your care facility? Because I'm pretty sure that pornography or the existence of establishments that provide it doesn't force you to phone home every five minutes or recite your itinerary to anybody.

I love literature, but pornography has limited my freedom to avoid reading what I don't want to read.

OK, now this is just getting stupid. I'll go slow so this dolt can follow. In these places called libraries, there's this thing called either the Library of Congress or the Dewey Decimal Classification system. You can go right to what you want to read about - I'm guessing you'll hang in the 200s on the DDC - and don't have to look at another thing. Not even those bright, colorful, pro-reading displays that those nasty egalitarian librarian types insist on putting up.

Are you in a bookstore? They tend to categorize, too. Just follow the signs. And here's a clever and handy tip. You're passing by something you don't want to read? DON'T READ IT! Point your eyes elsewhere. You're in charge of what they do and don't look at, not Houghton-Mifflin. I mean, come ON.

And newsagencies. Newsagencies! Those most normal of places—the place we go to buy our paper, our cool drinks and our bus tickets—have become places that cause me to pray before I enter.

Dear Lord, give me the strength not to buy the Super Big Gulp this time but to settle for a small regular coffee and perhaps a Danish... and please, Lord, let those people staring at me understand that I am actually praying and not preparing to urinate on the sidewalk...

Getting ridiculous here again. You have to "rally your heart to heaven" to go in the equivalent of a convenience store for a newspaper? You've got more problems than just porn, buddy.

I must buy my paper in the manner of an Israeli Commando Mission—get in and get out as quickly as possible.

Do you wear cammo? I would pay money to see that. People might mistake it as an Improv Everywhere mission, though.

Perhaps one day, I shall have to forgo my beloved copy of the Weekend Australian altogether.

The relaxation of censorship has not meant freedom for me, and a furthering of my rights; it has meant my freedom has been exchanged for another's. Those of us who wish to avoid pornography (not only Christians, but also Muslims, some feminists, and a host of other groups one would think a pluralistic society would be quick to listen to) have had our freedom exchanged for the freedom of the pornographer and his/her clients. Our freedom to walk the streets without being confronted by offensive material has been lost to the freedom of the pornographer to publish. So much for the notion that society has brought freedom for all! In this game, some people have won; others have lost.

"Some" feminists? No, I'm too worn out. I won't touch that after all.

Well, I feel very sorry for you, my confused Aussie poster, that you believe that your right not to be offended in your very narrow views of the world is more important than the right to self expression for all. But allow me to also observe something. Your whole post is predicated on the assumption that the mere existence of something tangibly interferes with your ability to distance yourself from it. As I've said elsewhere, this is kind of like saying that if someone hosts a BBQ and a vegetarian lives on the same block, that vegetarian's ability to make his or her own choice not to eat meat is somehow curtailed. (I'd extend that to the absurd notion that what a same-sex couple does in the privacy of their own home somehow damages the traditional marriage of a couple down the road, but I think I have a clue where that might go with this guy, too.)

This dude's faith is pretty poor, IMO, if all it takes is the existence of pornography, anywhere that he might possibly unexpectedly encounter it, to make him pitch this kind of fit. But his tirade also exposes the essential hypocrisy of the evangelical right. They're all for freedom of speech when it serves to protect their unending proselytization. The minute the principle is invoked in defense of anything they don't endorse, then it's an evil that must be stomped out, by government fiat if necessary. Their version of freedom extends only as far as their approved preachers have told them it can or should be thrown.

Jeremiah's First DADT "Thoughts"

Well, it's not the endless sermon we're used to from Jeremiah, though I'm sure that's waiting in the wings. No, instead, today Jer borrows a page from the GOP to ask his handful of readers their thoughts on DADT. * sigh * So few sentences, yet so much that is simply wrong. Read on.

Should The "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" Policy of Our United States Military Be Overturned, Or Left Alone?

Going to have a little question, answer session here, today...

Okay, my answer is, it should be left alone. Either that, or overturn the law, and disallow homosexuals from serving in the military at all.

Why?

Quite simply, to maintain the integrity of our men and women in uniform, because that's what our Military is all about, and in order to maintain their integrity, they need to be held accountable to a high standard. Perversion is about as low as you can go, and therefore, should not be specially protected.

No surprises here. We all knew this was the angle Jer was going to take, though he does it with a smugness that is jarring; particularly if, like me, you also are getting a little tired of the teabagger crowd constantly equating military service with something approaching Impending Sainthood on the societal values scale. You'd think it was the only occupation of any redeeming value in the world.

But my reaction to this can be summed up pretty completely in a single question.

Where would you stop, Jeremiah?

At what point would institutionalized discrimination against (or in favor of) any given group of people become just Too Much for your tender tummy to stomach?

We know that he doesn't care for openly gay service members. What about women? Jer would probably argue that their mere presence in the military is a temptation to sin, so they had better be kept out. If the boys want someone to fondle, there's always the womenfolk of whatever country we happen to be invading. I mean, they're foreigners. They don't count.

And, you know, while he's at it, Jeremiah might condone a religious litmus test, to make sure no scary Jews or Muslims or Pagans or any other faith of which he disapproves are allowed to serve. Forget all that flowery Constitutional language to the contrary. No, sirree - we had better act fast to make sure that all that bloodshed happens only in Jesus' name.

And then there's the government that sends those troops off to war. Shouldn't they be held to a high standard and be all about the Integrity? Presto! Jer has a rationalization for all government offices being staffed only by straight men. (We haven't gotten into the racial stuff, yet, but I somehow suspect that in Jeremiah World, "men" translates to "white, conservative men." I could be wrong, but I doubt that I am.)

And if government is a white-straight-Christian-boys-only club, well, then, who ever thought it was a good idea for non-Caucasians, women, those of diverse faiths, and gays to be allowed to VOTE? There's your problem right there. Take anybody who doesn't toe Jer's line right off the voter rolls. The dilemma is solved! Arguably, forever, since only clones of Jeremiah...well, and corporations, according to the Supreme Court...will be considered citizens. World without end, amen.

See, Jeremiah, here's the thing. What you like to call a group's "special protection," most of the rest of us call "equal rights and nondiscrimination." If the USA is "the greatest country on Earth," as I daresay is your claim...then how is that greatness enhanced by endorsing any level of discriminatory practice, in any sphere of society; much less in service to the nation?

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal." "Men," of course, to be construed in the sense of "all mankind."

Admit it, hypocrite Jer. You love to wave the flag, but don't give a rip for the real values it represents. In your universe, "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" are the purview only of a select few. THAT point of view is what is "about as low as you can go," and it most definitely "should not be specially protected."

Pot, Kettle...Heeeere's Jeremiah!

Well, what do you know? A new week has barely begun and Jeremiah is out of the starting gate with a fresh-picked bushel of nonsense. He reads words that aren't written, sees things that aren't there, and himself (ab)uses every tactic for which he assails Those Evil Liberals. He tries to make it sound like it's about his favorite topic, but as usual with Jer it's mainly about the fear. Read on - we'll undoubtedly be getting a lot of this sort of thing over the coming news cycles, as health care reform finally comes to a head.

After opening with some "analysis" from the American Thinker blog (I won't link - suffice it to say that its staff frequent Dennis Miller's and Bill O'Reilly's programs, and one runs the aptly named site Right Wing Nuthouse), the madness begins...

All in all, all this bill amounts to is another one of the big-government, centralized-authority liberals (communists) pork barrel spending sprees. Something else to rob the elderly of their social security.

Health coverage for uninsured Americans is a "pork barrel"? Does Jer not understand the terminology? I mean, he's usually so precise - just look how he clearly and in great detail describes the common ideological ground between liberals and communists......with parentheses. He might also have noted that the elderly have Social Security thanks in large part to legislation enacted by lawmakers with more faith in "big" government and centralized authority than he possesses. Lots of dissonance bang-for-the-buck there, in just two sentences; however, we have much more ahead.

One might say that it "wouldn't be so bad" if the bill didn't contain abortion in it, but we know that the liberals couldn't be more dissatisfied if it didn't have abortion contained in it, because it is not only money for the Democrats coffers, but it plays right into their agenda..."there's unsustainable populations of people on this earth, we have to do something about global warming", blah, blah, blah, and that sort of pro-death, fear-scaremongering non-sense.

Setting aside the knot of quadruple negatives for the moment, I regret to inform Jeremiah that Words Mean What They Say, and the only way that abortion is mentioned in the health care reform language is to specifically disallow any kind of government funding for insurance covering the procedure. Continuing to insist that the facts are otherwise is just pathetic. It's like insisting that it's actually a bologna sandwich just because someone spread the peanut butter in a circle.

Interesting attempt to link advocacy for a woman's right to choose with a response to climate change, though, as though everyone but Jeremiah is pushing population control as a rationale for the first and a solution for the second. "Pro-death." Talk about your fearscaremongeringnonsense!

That's how communists a.k.a liberals work. If they can scare you into believing a lie to fulfill their pro-death mindset they'll go at extraordinary lengths to accomplish it.

Did you see what Jer did, just there? That "communists a.k.a [sic.] liberals" reference is just what he's talking about: extraordinary lengths to scare you into believing a lie! What a great example of...wait...do you mean to say that he didn't realize that he was engaged in precisely what he's complaining about? Oh. Never mind.

Even go so far as to pass such a pro-death bill behind closed-doors partisan sniping session.

Not that conservatives have ever done anything of the kind. Why, remember when they were trying to be so bi-partisan about things that they cut off hearings in the middle of Democratic testimony, and often wouldn't allow their opponents so much as the courtesy of meeting space? All terribly noble and aboveboard. The Founders would be so proud.

Bipartisanship and especially the will of the people is totally dismissed from the get-go, and of course, that's a perfect exemplar of fascism, given that the Democrats have it so clear on display for all to see.

The will of the people is dismissed? But, Jer, it's the "will of the people" that put the party you happen to dislike in the majority. It's called v-o-t-i-n-g. And I have two questions. First, can't you make up your mind? Communists, or fascists? Can't have it both ways, you know. (Or, more likely, you don't, and just like to use scary-sounding words.) And, second, if all these underhanded deals are happening, why would the Democrats make anything "clear on display for all to see," particularly evidence of fascism? Or are you hallucinating again? Too much Ovaltine will do that to you, I hear.

Of course abortion is what the bill is about, or else they would have scrapped their plan and went with the modified version by one of their own who has some modicum of sanity, Rep. Stupak.

See above, about Words Meaning What They Say, and no amount of declaiming to the contrary changing that core fact. No matter who's talking. But you know how he operates - when you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail; when you're Jeremiah, everything's about abortion.

As for Stupak's "modifications," if you want fascism, then you've got it right there. His language would not only disallow government funding for insurance covering a medical procedure which - hate to break it to you, Jer - is still LEGAL in the US. It would go further and specify that no private funds can be used to purchase such insurance. Get that? Stupak would like to be able to tell all of us as individuals that we cannot spend our personal funds to purchase a legal product supporting a legal medical procedure. Forget government "getting between you and your doctor" - Bart Stupak would like to get between your bank account and your insurance agent and your doctor, all at once!

And Jeremiah calls that "sanity." Pull up your hip-waders. It's mighty deep out there...and I don't mean the water.

Barack Obama is nothing more than a dictator, and people who blindly follow him don't realize how truly dangerous he is, no, he is Dear Leader.

Funny, Stupak sounds a lot more dictatorial, by my reading. But I guess that, in any case, this proclamation puts the "communist" line to bed, if we're already a dictatorship...again, apparently, on no grounds stronger than "Jeremiah Says We Are." By the way, I doubt Jer knows that Dubya issued nearly 300 Executive Orders over the course of his administration, while Obama's current total sits at 44, well behind his predecessor's pace. And let's not even talk about how different Obama's attitude toward and use of Dubya's favorite toy, the "signing statement," has been.

What more reason do the American people have to wake up and smell the coffee? And no, that not the coffee-Astroturf party that the Liberals have going in response to the true Americans in the Tea Party.

Oh, this is rich. No, literally! I refer, of course, to the well-heeled corporate funders of the oh-so-grassroots "Tea Party" that the patriotic Bible-thumpers who populate Jeremiah's imaginary world adore. Americans For Prosperity. FreedomWorks. Koch Industries and the Scaife Foundation. Faux News, of course. Big-business conservatistas and master orchestrators of "spontaneous" movements, all.

Yet Jer thinks that the "coffee party" is the astroturf? The Coffee Party that started with an idea on a Facebook page a few weeks ago, and uses Google AdSense to defray its web hosting costs?

Follow the money, Jer. And consider switching to decaf. You're clearly too wound up to think straight.

But the kind of coffee where you wake up to in the morning and realize that reality has just struck...we need to get the Democrats out of power, and fast.

Well, if all comes together, Conservative prospects look to be pretty promising.

I know you're trying, Jeremiah. It's a thankless job, doing your daily darnedest to demonize everyone who doesn't hold your own arch-conservative views. Working tirelessly to persuade people to take positions against their own best interests and those of their families, neighbors and friends, all so that big business, Wall Street, talk radio and televangelism can continue to flourish at society's expense. And, especially, trying to enforce your own personal hangups on the morality and behavior of an entire gender, as if shoehorning a size 8 foot into a size 6 shoe.

Do yourself a favor and take a rest. Because when health care reform becomes a reality, and people realize they're benefiting from it more than not...that it offers them one of those rare patches of certain ground under their feet...that the sky hasn't, in fact, fallen? Then you'll regret all those lost hours beating your paranoia drum for nothing, and Conservative prospects will be less promising than ever.

Definition of a walking contradiction - Mark Noonan

As Mark Noonan goes off on one his rants about how liberals are the cause of overpopulation and teen pregnancy, he takes a moment to bash liberals for believing that we are more superior than everyone else.

Not just 30 minutes into his rant, Noonan contradicted himself.

Not believing in God is does not mean you get to allow your mind free range – you have to constrict your thought in various ways lest an invalid thought about God or anything supernatural upsets the whole atheist apple cart. Not believing in God also cuts a person off from the most widespread human activity – worshiping God and subordinating our personal desires to the service of God and our fellow men.

Translation: Without God, I essentially possess a truth that only I can see; therefore, making me superior over you.

More Unconnected Dots From The Jeremiahsphere

So, tonight I returned once again to that well of endless but terribly-pious non sequiturs that is our old pal Jeremiah, only to discover his freshly-posted latest take on the horrors of public schools. Let's deconstruct.

A new report finds that American adults who claim no religious affiliation increased from 14 million in 1990 to 34 million in 2008.

OH, dramatic and devastating! Until you consider that this averages to an increase of just 1.1 million per year, over that 18-year period. In the first year, assuming that average, it would be a 7% increase; and if you assumed the average increase for subsequent years, the percentage would actually fall from year to year, given the higher base number. There's no way to know, of course, what the individual numbers were, each year, because this item's agenda was to go for the big astonishing leap and conveniently ignore the time scale over which it occurred.

Now, while the report says that there is less "religious affiliation" we need to first understand that religion itself is not faith, and is a great deal of the problem we are seeing today. The Church has failed to deliver the true message of Christ to the people...keep in mind, I am not saying that most churches or pastors, ministers are failing in this endeavor, but that many of today's mega-churches with extra large numbers in attendance, are bringing messages which do more to satisfy the sensibilities of human desires ... such as: "Oh you are a good person," and "believe in yourself" etc, which does much to rob the true message of Christ and the Church, which states that we are sinners in need of a Savior, and whatever sin that we may have in our life, we need to get it out and start living according to God's Will for our lives.

Because Jeremiah has The Answer (c). And isn't it interesting how he assumes that "religious affiliation" automatically means his preferred flavor of Christianity? Because, you know, none of these undeclared religious affiliations could possibly be a lack of affiliation with Judaism, with Islam, with Buddhism or any of dozens of other faiths. Again, viewing the matter through the wrong end of the telescope. And I would like to see some examples of these ego-assuaging mega-church messages. Most of the ones I have seen are just asking for money.

Why are people being more skeptical of having faith in God? Well, there are a lot of lies being spread in our government-run, public schools, and those lies have been disseminated across the country in our public schools for 46 years. So there are millions upon millions of folks today since the starting point of atheism in our schools who have no knowledge of the truth, because it has been effectively forced out of the debate through the preaching of tolerance...and this is what happens when the tolerance of diversity, which leads to polytheism (the worship of many gods), which leads to confusion and eventually mayhem and anarchy.

Er, no. The article doesn't say that people are "more skeptical of having faith in God." It quotes the report it cites as saying that "most of the religiously unaffiliated in the U.S. are not atheists, but 'embrace philosophical and theological beliefs that reflect skepticism rather than overt antagonism toward religion.'" An important distinction...especially since Jer has just pointed out that religion and faith are not the same thing. Self-contradiction, thy name is Jeremiah!

It's a painful exercise in pretzel-shaped logic to parse Jer's subsequent linkage of skepticism with polytheism and anarchy, but let's give it a shot.

Lies disseminated in the public schools? What "lies" would those be, Jer? Simply not talking about a specific God in that environment, and leaving all that to Sunday School or non-Christian faiths' vehicles for similar religious education...how is that a lie? (Of course I know he's dog-whistling for his nonexistent followers about e-v-o-l-u-t-i-o-n, but when he knows his arguments are going to be deconstructed this way he really ought to impose better standards on himself. This is pretty shoddy, even on his part.)

No knowledge of the truth, forced out of the debate through the preaching of tolerance? Hmm, seems to me that one Jesus Christ had a lot to say about tolerance. Jeremiah, as usual, omits those troublesome bits.

Diversity -> polytheism -> confusion ->mayhem and anarchy. So, isn't he arguing here that children need to be indoctrinated into cookie-cutter conformity with his own belief system, or it will all turn into one crazy cross-cultural reenactment of Lord of the Flies? Even for Jeremiah, this is a genuine WTF stretch! Tolerate diversity, and you'll have a polytheistic society? Surprise, Jer! Society already embraces many different faiths, most of them monotheistic like your own, but many polytheistic as well. Life goes on. Anarchy hasn't taken over. Well, except from that crazy teabagger mob.

And isn't it fun to watch Jer try to claim that believing in no gods (the dread spectre of atheism) naturally leads to believing in many gods (polytheism)? Kind of like saying that being raised vegan eventually, and inevitably, turns kids into carnivores.

Although the report may say that the majority of those without any religious affiliation are non-antagonistic toward religion, any reported findings like that will inevitably prove a great deal of reluctance on the part of the individual/individuals to share their true feelings regarding the matter, and it is my contention that they are hostile to most religions, the faith of Christianity in particular. Why? Because of the reasons I mentioned, seeing how the majority of people have learned from the atheistic school system for the past 46 years.

Reluctance to share their true feelings? Golly gee, might that be from having to cope with multiple instances of zealots like Jeremiah taking any sincere expression of doubt or one's reasons for doubting as license to mount an all out convert-or-perish effort toward the individual in question? You want hostility? There it is in all its glory: not on the part of those who decline an affiliation but on the part of those eager and determined to push their own affiliation on all comers. It's nothing to do with the public school system, whose fault seems to lie in its failure to stuff Jeremiah's faith down all students' throats indiscriminately; and it's everything to do with fundamentalist Christianity's penchant for aggressively pursuing the conversion of those not predisposed to agree with them, and then the marginalization of those who refuse to be converted.

Sorry, Jer. You have to share the globe with those who disagree with you. There's plenty of room to share. Just lay off insisting that we make our space look exactly like yours.

Something must be done about our public schools. The atheism must go. It must be permeated from the learning process for all those concerned.

All in all, a lackluster performance in terms of logic and cause/effect on Jeremiah's part, but a satisfactory restatement of his Greatest Hits. Can't wait to see what fresh tidbits he'll have for us in the coming weeks.

Jer's Lean, Mean Deletin' Machine!

Further to the news earlier this week that Jeremiah is now sticking his fingers in his ears and singing "la-la-la-I-can't-hear you" whenever someone who disagrees with him - pretty much his only visitors - posts on one of his screeds. The magic of screen capture brings you a couple examples of posts that he seems to have found too heretical for prime time recently.

Now, I would suggest to the gentle readers of this blog that it might be mildly entertaining if when, in our travels through the Internet, we encountered a moment of boredom, we take the time to pop in on poor, lonely Jeremiah and post the word "voluntary" on a half dozen or so of his threads...but we don't really want to give him the hits or the bragging rights. So let's just leave him to his own devices and the voices in his head, safe in the knowledge that his avoidance of fact has been documented here for all blog-time.

I have been to the Philippines in the 1960’s.
I have personally met several P. men who had no front teeth……
