Jake Peavy(notes), disabled since mid-June and already once having rejected a trade to the Chicago White Sox, was traded in the moments before the trading deadline to the White Sox for four players.

In return for the 2007 Cy Young Award winner the Padres received four pitchers – lefties Clayton Richard and Aaron Poreda and righties Dexter Carter and Adam Russell.

The Sox are just 2 1/2 our of the AL Central Race. With Peavy, They've got more than a damn good shot of taking out Detroit for the top spot.

A big old fuck you to VP Sandy Alderson and Owner John Moores. These two assholes let this team burn when they kicked Bruce Bochy to the curb in 2006....after they won the NL West for a second straight year.

Jon Stewart has now earned the wrath of Rush Limbaugh for getting Bill Kristol to admit on The Daily Show that government run healthcare works. Limbaugh said that Stewart is a sell out for using the military as healthcare example, because liberals like Stewart hate the military. Ugh, so now Rush is going after Jon Stewart.

Limbaugh first didn’t know what The Daily Show was, and then called it that comedy show that young people think is real news. Limbaugh said, “The thing that gets me about this, I know Jon Stewart is a state run lib Democrat, and if he is having to resort to pointing to the military as something that works to sell a program, that‘s a huge sellout, because these people hate the military.”

In Rush’s mind, Jon Stewart is a liberal Democrat, which I am sure is a relief to Bill Clinton after the years of nightly beatings he took from Stewart during the last couple of years of his term. Secondly, Comedy Central is state run media, really? I didn’t realize South Park was a government run media project. Rush implies that Stewart is some sort of agent of left who is selling Obama’s policies to the young.

Stewart isn’t selling anyone’s programs. He can be very critical of both political parties, which is why his show is so successful. It isn’t a liberal or a conservative program. It is a half an hour of current events comedy. Limbaugh would be wise to pay attention to Stewart, because it is his audience that supported Obama in such large numbers in 2008.

Unlike Limbaugh’s old, angry, white man listenership, Stewart’s viewers will be shaping elections for years to come, so dismissing his program as a comedy show that young people think is real news is dumb thing to do. Stewart isn’t a sellout for pointing out the holes in the Republican healthcare argument. A sellout is someone like Rush Limbaugh who goes on the air everyday and acts as a propagandist for the Republican Party. Limbaugh is the very definition of a sellout.

Oh Yay! My Congressman Is A Birther.

Ultracrazy Orly Taitz has a blog that has been up since April. She is of course of the nutcase birthers and she defends soldiers who enlist and then decide...uh they really are chickenshits after all. On her blog she is showing all of the members of Congress who are her friends on facebook. That Crazy ass Michelle Bachman is one of them is no surprise. That my Congressman Lee Terry is also one of them is. Don't get me wrong as I said on Ms. Taitz blog (and somehow I don't think she'll put up my post) I knew he was fucking worthless, I just didn't know he was fucking nuts.

Thursday Open Thread

I figured out that the biggest mistake the climate change folks made in making their argument is letting their argument get labeled "Global warming". While this is of course technically a true label for the problem it has allowed the truly moronic among us to deny it's existence. The problem is people don't believe the universe exists outside of their little corner of it. Especially conservatives who think we should all speak English because Jesus did himself. So Nebraska has had the coolest July anybody can remember. It's 75 degrees today and that has been give or take 5-8 degrees about where it has been all month. The month ends tomorrow and for the month we will have had 1 day over 90... Unheard of.


The flip side of this is the Pacific Northwest where it's been 600 degrees and the poor people who live their are dying. So take Omaha and Portland. It's 75 in one and 106 in the other and while neither temperature is a unheard of for those two cities the thing is the 75 should be Portland and the 106 Omaha. Climate change is real folks.

Why do Morons Watch Glenn Beck?

Glenn Beck certainly has a different way about him. However, his ability to break complex political issues down for anybody to understand is his forte. He doesn't just sit there and talk about the issues he disects them so anybody can understand it. He also throws some humor in with it which makes some of the things going on in the political world in this country easier to swallow. Some people don't like him some people do and that is the way it will be with him, O'Reiley, Hannity, Matthews, Olberman, etc. Nobody is ever going to be liked by everybody. My reason for liking him is because he is quite opinionated but presents his position on different topics in a rather amusing and enjoyable nature.

If you all watch the political news networks for 100% factual information and get mad when you don't get it then to me that is no way to live because you will be mad all the time. I do not watch Beck for 100% factual info. I watch because he is amusing and enjoyable to watch and to get his opinion on various topics. I watch the news for entertainment of debate and points of view. 100% factual info on practically any political issue is hard to find in the first place and especially on the news.

We apparently will never agree on Beck, for the most part. However I agree with Beck and others who believe that America is changing right before our eyes. It has been changing by parties on both sides. It is not soley on democrats and it is not soley on republicans. It is both parties that are chaning our country. For some the change that is happening may be a welcomed one, but to others it is certainly not welcomed. They have the country seperated. We fight with each other rather then speak up to those who need to be spoken too. While we fight with each other they continue to do as they please, but when we fight together they begin to do as we please. Their careers are #1 to them not our needs.

I cannot respond for the so-called right-wing nuts but for me it isn't about whether or not the state government can do better than the federal government it is about the constitution. Apparently that piece of paper is being viewed by many as a living organism that, like many of us, changes as time passes.

Pegleg Peggy you believe fox to be the MOST responsible for such things happening, but that statement implies that you believe the other outlets are responsible as well, just not AS responsible, in your opinion. I agree with the fact that many are to blame for the change. I do not put more blame on any one network over another. But I aslo put blame on us as Americans for continuing to let it happen day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year.

before I go I will end by saying: BOTH SIDES have been involved in scandals, photo-shopping images of those critical of them, calling names, etc.
Focusing on the group on one side while letting the other side sneak through the cracks is what they want. The right watches the left, the left watches the right, but very few watch both sides evenly. It plays right into the hands of those in power and they know it. They get us so entrenched in what the other side is doing and by doing so they are free to do as they please. We are running in circles while they sit back and watch.
