Rosen-gate Or: Another Meaningless Nonstory for the Right To Latch Onto

And the award for most pointless non-story transformed into political cannon fodder of the day goes to....

Hilary Rosen, a Democratic National Committee adviser, criticized Ann Romney on Wednesday night and accused her of failing to understand the economic concerns of women. 

“His wife has actually never worked a day in her life,” Rosen said during a discussion on CNN's "AC360" Wednesday night. “She’s never really dealt with the kinds of economic issues that a majority of the women in this country are facing in terms of how do we feed our kids, how do we send them to school and how do we — why we worry about their future.”

Now, this was a poor choice of words on Rosen's behalf, though the context of what she said isn't far off:  the Romney campaign using the wife as a way to connect with middle class voters (women and mothers in particular) when she and Mitt have lived their lives fairly comfortably only add to the perception that Romney is out of touch with ordinary Americans and their daily struggles.

But nope! The GOP and the Romney campaign have made this non-story a hot topic on the 24 hr. cable news circuit. And who could blame them? Anything that will get the masses focusing less on an improving economy and the Republicans and their issues with women and Latino voters and more on this hateful bitch, her ties to Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright and how she used to be an adviser to the Obama White House, and yet another example of liberal hypocrisy on display (complete with Sean Hannity demanding that President Obama issue an apology to Ann Romney for the vicious and defamation of her good name, because this is, somehow, his fault), the better off Romney will be for a short time.

Durant: Skip Bayless Doesn't Know Shit About Basketball

Let me state for the record: ESPN analyst Skip Bayless is entertaining and tolerable in small doses. He's the kind of guy you knew growing up - the guy who knew his was smart, and made sure everyone else know that he was the smartest person in the room. His personality rubbed many of his peers the wrong way, and was probably the social pariah for being such a smug, know-it-all prick. He can also be Johnny-on-the-spot on a few topics in sports, like LeBron James choking in big-game moments, on this year's Super Bowl XLVI champs, and on Tiger's psyche being shot to hell. That said, Bayless is a loudmouthed, arrogant douchebag, knows he is a loudmouthed, arrogant douchebag, and gets off on it for the sake of being a Trending Topic on Twitter and for high ratings. One of Bayless's favorite targets has been Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook. Almost every single day, Bayless hammers the point home that Westbrook is about "me first", that he's a cancer in the lockerroom, etc. And it looks like Kevin Durant has had just about enough of hearing Skip bash his fellow teammate.

"That guy doesn't know a thing about basketball," Durant said of Bayless before the Thunder faced Memphis on Monday night...I'll stick up for all my guys, especially against a guy that I have never seen at an NBA game before. It just starts to get sickening when you hear somebody talk about your teammate like that almost every day. So I'll stick up for him every single day."

Always nice to see someone tell Bayless to back off.

Horrible news. We lost one of the great ones from newshounds way to soon. Kimberlee Keller passed away April 8th ending her courageous battle with Cancer. We loved her and will miss her. She was a great one.

Wow.

One of the gifts that life has unexpectedly given me back is that one of the friends I had at that age, thereabouts (17), lives here in NYC and is one of the most precious people in my life.

She met me when she was 15, and it was through the magic of the internet that we even met up again.

Hmm, where am I going with this?

You never know who your friends are going to be. People you think you will love forever vanish, this happens no matter how old you get. I was never lucky enough, like my dad, to have a friend he has always been able to lean on since high school, but I digress. I met her again, recently, and it's wonderful to know there is still something about us that stays.

Here's the thing, and this is what I realized upon hooking up with my friend from high school -we change, but there is always something of you that stays.

There's so MUCH TIME ahead of you at 16, I think about it and I am overwhelmed. I remember, driving around with my first car, with my first boyfriend and the night sky stretching out for all etenity. At 16, it was like the world went on for forever. Scary and awesome.

Life plays a cruel joke on all of us - when you are young you cannot wait to grow up, when you grow up you miss the eternalness of youth.

16? At 16 you can drive around, and enjoy everything new. Be serious but not too much so. We all forget, when we get older, how long the space is from day to day when you are 16.

The only thing you need to know is to fly straight and right, everything else will fall into place. So long as you do not betray yourself, there isn't a lot you can do wrong.
