Just come out and say it, already!

The video in which Pollster Frank Luntz asks the audience in De Moines, Iowa if they believe the President of the United States is a Muslim shouldn't surprise anyone who's heard this nonsense before, but listening to some of the responses the small audience give are just astounding.

Of all the comments made during the near-3 1/2 minute clip, the following comment pissed me off the most:

"I think he believes that America is at fault for all the world's problems. I think he doesn't see the good that America has done in the world."

What utter BS!!! Obama has, many times, referred to his background, being born to a white mother and a black father from Kenya, how his mother and white grandparents raised him, and how his rise in the modern political landscape and said that nowhere else on earth is his story possible but in America. In almost every major speech, Obama has referred to America's defining moments - from beating Nazi Germany and the Empire of Japan and emerging as the world's superpower, to Dr. King and the Civil Right Movement and the moon landing in '69, after JFK challenged the nation to put a man on the moon in a decade's time. How in the hell do you get off saying some incredible crap like that!?

And let's cut the "he's a Muslim", and "he sympathizes with Islam" catch-phrases, and get right down to the heart of the matter: you don't like the President because he's not the right skin color. Words like "Muslim sympathizer", "socialist" etc., are just code words for what these ignorant men and women really want to say aloud: I'm not comfortable with that n****r in the White House.

Spare us the Quayles!

It's already criminal that Arizona has elected Dan Quayle's son, Ben, to the House of Representatives. (Oh, Arizona, what the heck are you up to? I don't recognize the place in which I grew up, truly.) His father embodied the "useful idiot" concept for years, to the point where Dubya was once described, during his candidacy, as "Quayle, with a better watch." And who can forget the woeful mis-correction of the spelling of potato?

But this gushing op-ed lionizing Reagan on the basis of candy takes the proverbial cake.

When I was a child, President Ronald Reagan was the nice man who gave us jelly beans when we visited the White House.

I didn’t know then, but I know it now: The jelly beans were much more than a sweet treat that he gave out as gifts. They represented the uniqueness and greatness of America — each one different and special in its own way, but collectively they blended in harmony.

Yes, Banned & Dangerous readers. You're a jelly bean. The Great American Melting Pot is really just a candy shop, and you're one sugary lump among many. And Reagan, who set into motion so many policies that have proven so toxic for the US, this far down the line, was a Really Great Guy who Made Everybody Believe.

What rank BS.

But, furthermore, how scary it is that Ben Quayle is currently "a member of the Judiciary, Homeland Security, and Science, Space and Technology committees"?

I'm saddened, truly.

The View From My Ass The You Go Glenny Edition!

When ESPN put Mouse Limburgh on Gameday and said ok Mouse say something really stupid and he did they fired him for it and the Count stood up for Mouse. He never should have been on Game Day to begin with but he was and he was there to be controversial. He was and he got fired.

When MSNBC hired Michael Weiner and said ok Weiner say something really stupid and he did they fired him for it and the Count stood up for Weiner. He never should have been on MSNBC to begin with but he was and he was there to be controversial. He was and he got fired.

So it should be no surprise that now that there is a Presidential election to try and win and The Republicans are publicly rebuking Glenn Beck that the Count says "YOU GO GIRL...ERR GLENNY" Glenn is no more crazy than he was a year ago or even 6 months ago so why is he too crazy now? What's more this little Repelican charade of distancing itself from Glenny is made even more farcical by the fact that Glenn is only out saying what the people now saying "wow he's too crazy for us" are telling him to say. Glenn's too stupid to come up with this shit on his own. You know that, I know that, BOB DOLE knows that. Whats more Glenn Beck knows it. That is why he is has to be sitting back and in wonderment and confusion, surely not a first for him, at just what he's doing wrong. He's only saying what he's being told to say now the people telling him to say it are saying he is crazy.

The other thought that has to be crossing Glenny's mind assuming he has one is let me get this straight. I am too crazy for today's Republican party but Limburgh isn't? Neither is O'really, Shemp Hannity or any of the other right wing gasbaggers on TV, radio and the blogisphere? Not to mention Bachman, Palin, Steve King and countless other Republican nut cases that are elected REPUBLICAN politicians.

So to the 2012 conservative movement for making me stand up for Glenn Beck against their own hypocrisy I say fuck you with Dead Ronnie's corpse.

The View From My Ass Final Super Bowl Thoughts.

The game started with Christina Aguilera blowing the national anthem repeating lines and forgetting others. As you might imagine she is catching some flack for it. I give her credit for singing it live instead of lip syncing to a recording as most people do. It's a poem (and not a very good one at that) that is set to music. As a song it's a worse song than it is a poem. + she is freakin Christina Aguilera.

As for the Red Eyed Turnips (Black Eyed Peas) The NFL can't win. Of course if you are a fan of the group you thought it was a great halftime show. if you aren't you thought it sucked. Seems most thought it sucked. Since America lost it's collective minds with the millisecond sight of a 42 year old tit The Super Bowl has brought in the fossils of rock. Most years they have taken heat for it. It began to become a joke. The Image conscience NFL decided to bring in the Grey Eyed Broccolies and tonight people are ripping the show. Why do we need any named entertainers at halftime? Or in the pre-game for that matter? I know the NFL says they decided to bring in the names when people began to complain about high ticket prices but it seems to me paying off the Orange Eyed Corncobs and the no talent hacks in pre-game to perform are what drives the Ticket prices higher. Well that and people are willing to pay $1000. If the Count were in charge we wouldn't be re-enacting the War of 1812 like halftime of Superbowl IV but you would see the Grambling and Jackson State bands just like the way it should be. Imagine a 2 hour pre-game show about the football and a football halftime show during the biggest football game of the year. I know it's a stunning thought.

If you care about the commercials don't take this personally but fuck you. Go read some other blog.

Now the game. As I said before pretty easy to break this down. 2 even teams one had 3 turnovers the other had none. Guess who won? Sometimes it really is that easy to break this game down.

A few strategy decisions I disagreed with at the time and some I still do. Pittsburgh's kicker Shaun Suisham stinks. There is a reason this guy got cut from The Cowboys and The Redskins. He barely made a 33 yard field goal and an extra point. So when Pittsburgh had 4th down and had to decide to kick a 52 yard field goal or punt it seemed to me a pretty easy decision. take a 5 yard penalty and punt the ball and don't give up good field position. Pittsburgh chose to kick a field goal and Suisham missed it so bad he nearly killed people in the crowd.

One last note on this. I knew Suisham was a poor kicker and it's one reason I questioned my 16-13 Steeler prediction. The Steelers had a fine kicker in Jeff Reed but they dd what NFL teams too often do when he went through a brief cold spell. They panicked and cut him and brought in the 4th rate suisham. I never understood the reason NFL teams panic with kickers only to bring in worse kickers.

Anyway On the next drive Green Bay had a 3rd and 8 and were in position to kick a 56 yard field goal. I personally would have ran the ball hoped to have gained 3 or 4 yards and give Their kicker Mason Crosby a 51 or 52 yard kick. At the time the game was 21-17 and the kick would have made it a one touchdown game. They threw the ball incomplete and had to punt.

Pittsburgh scored to cut the lead to 28-23 and went for 2 to make the score 28-25. I don't like going for 2 here even though it cuts the game down to a field goal and here is why. Score go for 2 don't make it it is 28-23. Now if you score again you have to go for 2 again to make it 31-28. Seems to me you should just kick the extra point on both occasions and you'll be up 31-28. But it must be said the play the Steelers called to get the 2 points was brilliant.

With the score 28-25 Aaron Rodgers who played brilliantly took his tea down to get a field goal to make the score 31-25. Any doubt Brett Jesus throws a game winning pick on that drive instead of taking his team in for more points? I have none. I wonder if Green Bay still misses Brett Jesus. Oh well idiots like Uber-stooge and Planet Boob still love him.

Ben Roethlisberger takes a lot heat for personal troubles and with good reason but he showed again why I would take him in a minute to QB my team. (even if I would take Rodgers first at the moment) Yes he had 2 picks but the one that was ran back for a score wasn't his fault. He takes a beating and keeps getting up and playing harder. He kept bringing Pittsburgh back time and time again and he kept the in the game when it could have got away. Roethlisberger did nothing to lower his standing in my eyes on the field at least.

Can we please kill the myth that the Super Bowl is always a disappointing game? 5 good ones in a row the last 4 have been great. The last 8 games have been close as have 11 of the last 13. Oh yeah the Super Bowl always sucks.

I think Bill Belichick did a great job this year with the Pats but how is he coach of the year over Mike McCarthy who took his team to a championship even though Green Bay lost key players to injury all year long including this game. Perhaps it was fitting that Green Bay lost two very key players Donald Driver and Charles Woodson to injuries in the first half and had to overcome them because that is what they have have had to do and have done all year.

SuperBowl XLV

VS

Edit From The Count:

31
25

Difference in a game with two even teams is one had 3 turnovers and 1 had none. 5th good and 4th Great Super Bowl in a row. I kept thinking as the game when on Damn I wish John Facenda was still alive this would have been one great Super Bowl highlight video.
I still say Super Bowl XLII Between the Giants and Patriots was the best but this was top 10. Stellers were probably the better team for the last 2 1/2 quarters but again turnovers were the difference. Great game from Aaron Rogers. Wonder if they still miss the Interception King.

Javier Bardem to be in Bond 23?

Things are quckly moving on Bond 23: Last time, MGM announced that the next entry in the 007 franchise would be going foreword after all, and will plan to release it in November of 2012. Today, we learn that we may have Bond's new villain: Oscar-winner Javier Bardem.

Following word over the weekend that Javier Bardem has been offered a major role in the upcoming (still untitled) 23rd James Bond film, the LA Times spoke with the actor and confirmed that the part in question is, indeed, the film's villain.

"I’d be playing Bond's nemesis, yes," Bardem explains, "but it's not that obvious. Everything is more nuanced. It's very intriguing... They're changing the whole thing, the whole dynamic."

Bardem acknowledges his interest, saying that he's a big fan of the franchise, but will not make a decision until he has the opportunity to read the full script. That said, meetings so far with director Sam Mendes certainly seem to have left him intrigued.

Bardem would make a great Bond villain. Why? He's played one in the Coen Bros. No Country For Old Men, and to great effect.
