The Brooklyn...Err Los Angeles Dodgers Get Manny

Link

Slugger Manny Ramirez's stormy relationship with the Boston Red Sox is over.

Ramirez has been traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Red Sox will pay the remaining $7 million of Ramirez's contract, ESPN.com's Peter Gammons reported.

"I inform you today that we have acquired one of the best hitters of all time, Manny Ramirez," said Dodgers owner Frank McCourt, announcing the trade at a World Baseball Conference news conference.

Jason Bay is going to Boston and the Pittsburgh Pirates get four minor leaguers as part of the three-way deal.

Third baseman Andy LaRoche and right-handed pitcher Bryan Morris will go to the Pirates from the Dodgers. Outfielder Brandon Moss and right-handed pitcher Craig Hansen will leave the Red Sox organization for Pittsburgh.

Remarks by Ramirez, who has been involved in trade rumors the last few years, might have been the final straw for the Red Sox.

Manny Ramirez - Beantown's Brett Favre

Manny needs to bury his prima donna attitude, or else Beantown won't be sad to see him leave.

"The Red Sox don't deserve a player like me," Ramirez said. "During my years here, I've seen how they [the Red Sox] have mistreated other great players when they didn't want them to try to turn the fans against them.

"The Red Sox did the same with guys like Nomar Garciaparra and Pedro Martinez, and now they do the same with me. Their goal is to paint me as the bad guy," Ramirez added. "I love Boston fans, but the Red Sox don't deserve me. I'm not talking about money. Mental peace has no price, and I don't have peace here."

“Brown is an outspoken advocate on many issues, including adoption, abstinence, and drug and alcohol education, race relations and pornography, to name a few.”

Here is what they wanted to say but were afraid to...

"I've talked to Pastor Hagee about it. He's a dear friend. I have the greatest admiration for him and I think that he feels the lesson he learned was that he shouldn't have gotten involved in politics. I think Senator McCain has respect for Pastor Hagee and kind of regrets the way it all developed."

“I don't agree with everything that John Hagee has ever said or done. I can safely say that Pastor Hagee doesn't agree with everything I've said or done. But we agree on some big things. We agree on our basic religious beliefs. We believe in the God of the Bible. We believe the Bible is the inspired truth from God and all that comes with it, the God of creation, the God of revelation, the god of redemption and salvation."

"A comment Pastor Hagee made about the Holocaust was taken way out of context and I think it was his struggling to as a person who believes in God and the God of the Bible to explain to himself how could the Holocaust have occurred. But if you read Pastor Hagee's writings, if you listen to his remarks I don't know of anybody who has been more committed to Israel, more against anti-Semitism and worked harder to build bridges between Christians and Jews than Pastor John Hagee."

John Voight: Obama sowing socialist seeds in young people

This is comedy gold.

We, as parents, are well aware of the importance of our teachers who teach and program our children. We also know how important it is for our children to play with good-thinking children growing up.

Sen. Barack Obama has grown up with the teaching of very angry, militant white and black people: the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, William Ayers and Rev. Michael Pfleger. We cannot say we are not affected by teachers who are militant and angry. We know too well that we become like them, and Mr. Obama will run this country in their mindset.

The Democratic Party, in its quest for power, has managed a propaganda campaign with subliminal messages, creating a God-like figure in a man who falls short in every way. It seems to me that if Mr. Obama wins the presidential election, then Messrs. Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers and Pfleger will gain power for their need to demoralize this country and help create a socialist America.

Lest We Forget McClellan Is Still A Coward And A Pussy

Interviewed on MSNBC last week, former White House press secretary Scott McClellan said Fox News pundits and commentators “were useful to the White House,” stating that they were given “talking points” to repeat on air:

Q: Did people say call Sean, call Bill, call whoever? Did you do that as a regular thing?

McCLELLAN: Certainly. Certainly. It wasn’t necessarily something I was doing, but it was something that we at the White House, yes, were doing.

On his radio show yesterday, Bill O’Reilly let loose on McClellan, calling him a “liar” and an “idiot” for saying O’Reilly accepted the talking points. Today, McClellan went on O’Reilly’s show and in a tense back and forth, O’Reilly got McClellan to apologize for the “talking points” statement. “Do you owe me an apology?” O’Reilly asked. McClellan responded:

McCLELLAN: The truth is I messed up. I was specifically not trying to single anyone out, including you. But the way a couple of the questions were phrased in that interview along with my response left things open to interpretation and I should not have let that happen. … I understand why you got upset. … You’re the Big Kahuna at Fox News, and some people tried to paint in a black and white term through a preconceived notion.

Before you anoint this clown a hero remember that McClellan is just a sad pathetic human being. He said NOTHING when he had the chance to put a stop or at least draw attention to the wrong doings of the Bush administration until he had a book to sell. he comes out and admits what all of us with an IQ over 6 already knew and then we gets called on it shits all over himself. Way to fake guts Scotty.

Jack White And Alicia Keys To Sing QOS Theme?

Linky

News has emerged (via ComingSoon.net among others) that Jack White and Alicia Keys have recorded the title track to Quantum of Solace.

James Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli today announced the song, titled “Another Way To Die”, marks the first duet in James Bond soundtrack history.

The song was written and produced by White, who also performs the drums on the track.

“Another Way To Die” will appear on the official soundtrack to Quantum of Solace, which will be released on J Records on 28 October, 2008.

33-year-old White is best known as one half of the alternative rock band The White Stripes. Keys, 28, is an R&B/pop singer with 11 Grammy awards under her belt.

The pair will be following in the footsteps of Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, a-ha, Garbage, and most recently, Chris Cornell.

I have actually heard of Alicia Keys! anyway my thoughts were summed up perfectly by a poster on Commander Bond named doubler 83 on one of the multiple threads where people actually give a shit about the song...

At the end of the day, it's going to be 3 minutes or so out of around 120 minutes. If you don't like it, then go to the toilet.

Just announce the damn singer already.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Ted Stevens, the nation's longest-serving Republican senator and a major figure in Alaska politics since before statehood, was indicted Tuesday on seven counts of failing to disclose hundreds of thousands of dollars in services from an oil services company that helped renovate his home.

The first sitting U.S. senator to face federal indictment since 1993, Stevens has been dogged by an investigation into his home renovation project in Alaska and his dealings with wealthy oil contractors.

The probe has upended Alaska state politics and brought negative attention to Stevens — who is running for re-election this year — and to his congressional colleague, Rep. Don Young, who also is under investigation.

Stevens' indictment further damages Republican prospects in the November elections as Senate Democrats, who now enjoy a 51-49 majority, try to capture a filibuster-proof 60-vote majority.

Prosecutors said Stevens received more than $250,000 in gifts and services from VECO Corp., a powerful oil services contractor, and its executives. From May 1999 to August 2007, prosecutors said, the 84-year-old senator concealed "his continuing receipt of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of things of value from a private corporation."

The indictment unsealed Tuesday says the items included home improvements to his vacation home in Alaska, including a new first floor, garage, wraparound deck, plumbing and electrical wiring, as well as a Viking gas grill, furniture and tools. He also was accused of failing to report swapping an old Ford for a new Land Rover to be driven by one of his children.

The Justice Department said Stevens would not be arrested and would be allowed to turn himself in.

Every time I see this commercial I honestly can-not for the life of me figure out what the problem is. Man wants to have sex with Wife. Child shows up from college unexpected. child apparently isn't aware parents have ever had sex. instead of waiting 2 weeks for the kid to leave before you have sex, or until you go to bed why wouldn't you just break off about $100 or so (that's what the child is home for anyway) and tell her to go to a movie and take her friends out to eat? Unless you are afraid to traumatize the child with the fact that you have sex.

Calling Out Newshounds. Seems Like Old Times

Warning I am about to go off on Newshounds. This post is my feelings and Jonathan has nothing to do with it. So if you disagree blame me. Also if you don't want to read anymore of my feelings towards Newshounds you have been forewarned.

It's been a good while since I have taken a good shot at the fine folks at Newshounds and I can assure you I am not doing so tonight just to take another needless shot at the "hard working gals" Surely you know how hard they work. They just can't resist the opportunity to tell you about it every time they ask for donations. The last time the gals asked for coin Chrish (one my all time favs) even went on about how she would rather spend the time with her ass out back in a hammock. I was going to say 700 pound ass but for all I know Chrish might weigh 70 pounds and really she would be equally as well... I digress.

Anyway Friday Scott McClellan made some truths known about Fox News that all of us long knew were true but didn't quite have the proof. Something the culprits involved, Fox News and The White House, have long denied. Fox News is a state ran news organization. Nothing more that a Republican Pravda and yet the blog whose specific job it is to monitor Fox News was curiously a sleep at the wheel and didn't post a thing about this until Think Progress posted it on their blog. I mean having a blog and all that's designed to show the public the biases of Fox News I would think that a statement like...

“I make a distinction between the journalists and the commentators. Certainly there were commentators and other, pundits at FOX News, that were useful to the White House.” […] That was something we at the White House, yes, were doing, getting them talking points and making sure they knew where we were coming from."

Matthews: “So you were using these commentators as your spokespeople.”

McClellan: “Well, certainly.”

Call me crazy but it seems like if I were running a blog that monitored Fox and I worked oh so hard at it even though I didn't really want to do it...This is something that I would put up right a fucking way. But it seems Chrish and Ellen were caught sleeping in their back yards in their hammocks again. It wasn't until late Saturday night that chrish FINALLY posted something about this on newshounds and even then not because she herself caught it and was late to post it but because she read it on Think Progress.

Scott McClellan confirms on Hardball what we've been saying all along: "Fox News Commentators Use The ‘Talking Points’ That The White House Sends Them."

ThinkProgress reports...

There you have it. This is how hard the Newshounds work. They go to other blogs see what they put up and then post it on their blog. Nothing wrong with that, hell that's what I do. But then I don't claim to be a media watch dog either. And I don't beg for money 12 times year while crying about how hard it is to run this blog. Really it's quite easy to run. As I am sure the Newshounds ladies must know since they run their blog the very same way.

Making the laziness of the Newshounds ladies even more egregious is the fact that the off topic group, the real Newshounds, apparently caught this right way. I quote ET from this very blog...

We were on it on the OT on Friday, Count.

Come on now ladies could you not go to the off topic forum of your own damn blog and not catch this? I mean laziness is one thing but there has to be a limit doesn't there? I know, I know, the Off topic forum is full of losers that you would rather do with out and you only really ever go to off topic to see if anybody said anything said nasty against you even though it's an open forum because after all it's your forum right? Really the only time you ever need them is after you check Think Progress and Crooks And Liars to see if they have anything on Fox that you can post on your blog and only then so you can tell them HOW HARD YOU WORK and HOW MUCH YOU HATE DOING IT and how you WOULD RATHER BE OUT BACK IN A HAMMOCK...Blah blah blah... so they should send you their hard earned money.

So I am suggesting that Newshounds while a worthy blog, all left-wing blogs that monitor right-wing bullshit are worthy blogs and are needed, Blogs like Thing Progress and Crooks And Liars are far more worthy. They are doing the job that the Newshounds are pretending they do. or at least a far better job of it. They probably like what they do and don't feel the hard work is a strain either. Yes Newshounds is a volunteer blog but they volunteered so they can stop blaming others for it or quit. As for donations, it's not my place to tell people what to do with their hard earned cash but it seems to me that since Newshounds is just a feeder from Think Progress, Crooks And Liars And Media Matters For America those are the blogs that people should think
about donating to first.

Kenneth And Gloria Copeland Not On The Up And Up? The Hell You Say!

Linky

NEWARK, Texas - Here in the gentle hills of north Texas, televangelist Kenneth Copeland has built a religious empire teaching that God wants his followers to prosper.

Over the years, a circle of Copeland's relatives and friends have done just that, The Associated Press has found. They include the brother-in-law with a lucrative deal to broker Copeland's television time, the son who acquired church-owned land for his ranching business and saw it more than quadruple in value, and board members who together have been paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for speaking at church events.

Church officials say no one improperly benefits through ties to Copeland's vast evangelical ministry, which claims more than 600,000 subscribers in 134 countries to its flagship "Believer's Voice of Victory" magazine. The board of directors signs off on important matters, they say. Yet church bylaws give Copeland veto power over board decisions.

Kenneth And Gloria Copeland checking 600 year old Oral Roberts head for lice.

Prosperity gospel
Kenneth Copeland, 71, is a pioneer of the prosperity gospel, which teaches that believers are destined to flourish spiritually, physically and financially — and share the wealth with others.

His ministry's 1,500-acre campus outside Fort Worth is testament to his success. It includes a church, private airstrip, a hangar for the ministry's aircraft and a $6 million, church-owned mansion.

Already a well-known figure, Copeland has come under greater scrutiny in recent months. He is one target of a Senate Finance Committee investigation into allegations of questionable spending and lax financial accountability at six large televangelist organizations that preach health-and-wealth theology.

All have denied wrongdoing, but Copeland has fought back the hardest, refusing to answer most questions from the inquiry's architect, Republican Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa.

Ok. Copeland is a fraud, a phony and a charlatan all of this is true but even though he is making good money ( millions) coning the truly stupid and ignorant he is really a small fry. Why isn't the AP and Grassley going after the big time con artists like Paul And Jan Crouch and Pat Robertson? I know the answer to that question but I just thought I would ask.

Newshounds Question

Did the newshounds have one thread about McClellan outing Fox as a state ran news network much the same way Pravda is a state run newspaper? I can't find one and it would seem to me this would be something they would jump all over if they were a serious organization whose goal it is to expose the evils of Fox.

Yes McClellan told us nothing we didn't already long suspect... OK KNOW...but you would think the fact that a former member of the Bush White House has admitted what both Bush and Fox has long denied would be an item the ladies should be all over if they were serious about monitoring Fox...or knew what they were doing.

I have checked the blog several times and have not found anything on there about this latest development. If it's there I missed it.

Late Edit: They just posted a thread on this. As did Think Progress. I suspect TP probably posted this first and then newshounds decided to post a thread. I heard about it last night or the night before on The Countdown.

I have always rooted for the American Olympic basketball team mostly because everybody in America seems to root against them. I have never understood the reasoning either. well Actually I do but...

I always laugh when people bust out the " I root for America except the basketball team because they are professionals" yeah like the other athletics in the Olympics are not. And in case you haven't noticed the other teams almost all have NBA players on their roster. Let's be honest the only good Olympic sport is basketball (even Boxing is a joke because of the scoring) and the only reason people root against the Basketball team is race.

I will root for this team but the fact that it's coached by that Cockroach K and has Kobe Bryant on it makes it tough.

The University of Nebraska and FSN announced Friday that the Huskers’ first three football games of the 2008 season will be telecast via pay-per-view on participating cable systems and nationwide to satellite dish customers. The games included in the announcement are home games against Western Michigan (Aug. 30), San Jose State (Sept. 6) and New Mexico State (Sept. 13).

Kickoff times for the first two contests have also been determined with the debut of the 2008 Huskers against Western Michigan set for a 6 p.m. CT kickoff from Memorial Stadium. A week later, Nebraska and San Jose State will meet in an 11:30 a.m. CT game. The kickoff time for the Sept. 13 matchup with New Mexico State will be determined no later than 12 days in advance of the contest.

“We wanted to announce our plans for these first three games as early as possible so our fans can start making plans for the beginning of the season,” Nebraska Athletic Director Tom Osborne said. “There is a lot of excitement around the state to see our team get going with Bo as head coach and the pay-per-view option gives fans that can’t be at Memorial Stadium the opportunity to watch the first three games.”

Does Fox News Hurt Your Childs "Eductaion"?

Savage " I Was Taken Out Of Context"

Linky

Summary: Michael Savage recast July 16 comments he made about autism in order to claim that he was "take[n] out of context." Savage falsely suggested that his comments distinguished between "the truly autistic" and those he described on July 21 as "the misdiagnosed, the falsely diagnosed, and the outright fakers in the autism field."

On July 21, nationally syndicated radio host Michael Savage recast comments he made about autism in order to claim that he was "take[n] out of context." Savage falsely suggested that his July 16 comments -- which have generated widespread media attention and sparked protests -- distinguished between "the truly autistic" and those he described on July 21 as "the misdiagnosed, the falsely diagnosed, and the outright fakers in the autism field."

In fact, in his July 16 comments -- the relevant portions of which Media Matters for America documented with transcript and audio -- Savage said: "Now, you want me to tell you my opinion on autism, since I'm not talking about autism? A fraud, a racket. ... You know what autism is? I'll tell you what autism is. In 99 percent of the cases, it's a brat who hasn't been told to cut the act out. That's what autism is."

You knew that old tired excuse was coming didn't you? But Weiner can't leave well enough alone...

From the July 21 broadcast of Talk Radio Network's The Savage Nation:

SAVAGE: It is The Savage Nation. The autism controversy is very important because true autism is extremely heartbreaking. I have devoted my entire life, even as a child, to defending the helpless, mainly the helpless children because of a tragedy in my own family, and it's ironic that people who hate families and children -- a group called Media Matters, filled with anti-family individuals who do not marry; they're men who like men -- would take out of context comments that I made last week directed at the misdiagnosed, the falsely diagnosed, and the outright fakers in the autism field and try to make you, the parents of the truly autistic, attack me.

Why?

Why even after he posted these fine lyrics...

Democrats and Liberals shame on you,
Don't punish us all just to please a few.
Our Constitution, Nation and God are under attack,
and that's why we can't vote for a Democrat.

Why did I click on that damn song? My ears may never be the same.

First Obama gaff caused by.....John McCain?

Will someone get this man a map, please?

Asked by Diane Sawyer whether the "the situation in Afghanistan in precarious and urgent," McCain responded: "I think it's serious. . . . It's a serious situation, but there's a lot of things we need to do. We have a lot of work to do and I'm afraid it's a very hard struggle, particularly given the situation on the Iraq/Pakistan border."

Secretly, I think this is what McCain meant by an Iraq-Pakistan border, as Matthew Yglesias notes:

Dobson Is taking His Long Slow Climb On To McCain...

Ralph gives himself credit

Is anybody shocked that right-wing faux-Christian James Dobson is starting to climb on to the McCain bandwagon as a last ditch attempt to keep a hold of his political pull? Ralph is. And not only that Ralph thinks he is the reason Dobson had had his "Change Of Heart"...

DOBSON CONCURS WITH AMERICAPHILE!!!!

DR. JAMES DOBSON HAS ACTED UPON WISE COUNSEL!!!!!:

Conservative Christian leader James Dobson has softened his stance against Republican presidential hopeful John McCain, saying he could reverse his position and endorse the Arizona senator despite serious misgivings.

"I never thought I would hear myself saying this," Dobson said in a radio broadcast to air Monday. "... While I am not endorsing Senator John McCain, the possibility is there that I might."

DR. DOBSON REACHED THIS DECISION AFTER INFORMATIVE ENTRIES FROM AMERICAPHILE, PARTICULARLY THE MORNING AFTER, HAVE BEEN SENT TO HIS OFFICE AT FOCUS ON THE FAMILY!!!!

McCain is trying to help who and who go to Iraq?

Seriously, who are these people?

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, star of MTV's "The Hills" reality show, sat down today's "Extra".

Montag, whose late stepbrother served 3 years in Iraq and Afghanistan (he recently died falling off a roof in Colorado), is planning a trip to perform for American troops stationed in the Middle East. Heidi says, "My brother was an airborne ranger in Afghanistan and Iraq. It's very important to me and important to Spencer to support the troops and go over there."

Montag also talked about her budding friendship with presidential hopeful Senator John McCain's daughter, Meghan, commenting, "She's very sweet. We have a lot in common." The pair were photographed last week dining together in Los Angeles.

But how will they get to Iraq? Spencer Pratt said, "I think Meghan McCain is helping organize Heidi and our Iraq trip. Her dad definitely has some pull with the military. I think she's going to put that together for us."

Back in April John McCain called Montag a "talented actress" after she said she planned to vote for the Arizona senator.

Savage Stands by Autism Remarks

Published: July 22, 2008

Michael Savage, the incendiary radio host who last week characterized nearly every child with autism as “a brat who hasn’t been told to cut the act out,” said in a telephone interview on Monday that he stood by his remarks and had no intention of apologizing to those advocates and parents who have called for his firing over the matter.

“My main point remains true,” Mr. Savage, whose radio audience ranks in size behind only those of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, said in the interview Monday. “It is an overdiagnosed medical condition. In my readings, there is no definitive medical diagnosis for autism.”

On the July 16 installment of his program, which is broadcast every weekday, Mr. Savage suggested that “99 percent of the cases” of autism were a result of lax parenting. He told his audience: “They don’t have a father around to tell them: ‘Don’t act like a moron. You’ll get nowhere in life.” Among the other admonitions he felt autistic children should be hearing, he said, were: “ ‘Straighten up. Act like a man. Don’t sit there crying and screaming, idiot.’ ”

Asked Monday if he actually believed that 99 out every 100 cases of autism were misdiagnosed, Mr. Savage conceded that figure was “a little high.” He added, “It was hyperbole.”

But he said he was proud to have prodded discussion on the subject, and planned to give over his entire show on Monday — broadcast live from northern California from 3 to 6 p.m., Pacific time — to parents and other callers who wished to disagree with him and to educate him.

99 out of out or 100 of Savage's fans are brain dead cock suckers. Of course That's hyperbole and the figure is a little low.

Remembering James Bond: Names Is For Tombstones Baby!

Live And Let Die 1973.

2/3's blaxsploitation and 1/3 Smokey And The Bandit It's impossible to comprehend Live And Let Die unless you can set your brain to 1973 before diving in. Unfortunately the blaxploitaion movie was already on the way out by the time LALD hit the theaters so the movie was almost instantly dated. And as you might guess LALD'S social message hasn't really dated well either. The bad guy, named Kananga/ Mr. Big is played by Yaphett Koto, is both a small time island dictator and a Harlem crime boss. Where as other James Bond villains before Kananga had big time plans of starting world war three, whipping out the human population with or becoming the worlds most powerful man Kananga is essentially a Black Goldfinger. Only instead of Gold his plan is to have a near monopoly on Heroin which he plans on growing in his country of San Monique (Fictional) and then distributing ( for free at first) in the United States through a chain of Filet of Soul Restaurants. Kananga uses a fortune teller the High Priestess Solitaire (Jane Seymour) Who will lose her powers once she has sex which Kananga plans on happening as soon as she is no longer any use to him. (This is one of many things about the movie that has caused some to label it as highly racist)

For an Hour and half all of the villains are Black as is most of the cast. James Bond has his first sex with a black woman ( Rosie Carver) then gets her killed shortly afterwards when he discovers she is not CIA but working for Kananga. An hour and a half into the movie we are introduced to Sheriff J.W. Pepper from Louisiana a stereotypical slow whited, racist, redneck whose character was written into the movie to provide humor and also a White villain thus keeping people from claiming every villain or idiot in the film was Black.

What's There to Like? This is Roger Moore's first Bond film and he is quite good. The film at least tries to feel like Dr. No in some of the situations and the fact that certain characters are related to characters from Dr. No. The race humor while being UN-PC and offensive to some is to me quite funny and almost all of it is directed at James Bond and J.W. Pepper. Paul McCartney's theme song and this movie would be high on my James Bond list if for no other reason than this conversation...

Mr. Big: [to his men] Is THIS the stupid mother who tailed you uptown?
James Bond: There seems to be some mistake. My name is...
Mr. Big: Names is for tombstones, baby! Y'all take this honkey out and WASTE HIM! NOW!

What's not to like? The Occult, Blaxploitaion, Safari Suits, Hillybilly racist sheriffs...this movie is 70's to the core and it's got more than it's share of camp. If your idea of Bond is strictly serious OHMSS or CR than skip this one. Also I can't stand Jane Seymour. Not because of this movie. She's OK here and she was certainly attractive but after that Horrid Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman and her work with the Television Nazi's I have just no use for her.

My Verdict: When I rank this one I usually rank it high at about 5th on my James Bond List. The things I like about it are the things many people, especially the Fleming purist, can't stand. But I think humor is a good thing and really this movie isn't much different in style and is much better than the Connery flick Diamonds Are Forever which came before it. I Like the From Russia With Love, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Casino Royale serious type James Bond films but I also believe there is plenty enough room for The Live And Let Dies of the series. And if it's camp...so be it.

So what if we are there for 100 years? That will mean we have a strong alliance with Iraq which will be good for both the USA and Iraq. Treeline, don’t worry, libtards like you will not be there to do any heavy lifting anyway. I doubt you know or have even met a single person who has served in Iraq. So please don’t act like you care about our troops. If you don’t support the mission then you don’t support the troops.FOAD.

The Death Knell for John McCain?

This isn't good news for John McCain: Maliki backs Barack Obama's troop exit plan.

BERLIN (Reuters) - Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki told a German magazine he supported prospective U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's proposal that U.S. troops should leave Iraq within 16 months.

In an interview with Der Spiegel released on Saturday, Maliki said he wanted U.S. troops to withdraw from Iraq as soon as possible.

"U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama talks about 16 months. That, we think, would be the right timeframe for a withdrawal, with the possibility of slight changes."

It is the first time he has backed the withdrawal timetable put forward by Obama, who is visiting Afghanistan and us set to go to Iraq as part of a tour of Europe and the Middle East.

Over at Talking Points Memo, the word is: pretty much.

Four hours ago, John McCain was man with a shot at the presidency. Not a great shot, mind you, but more then a puncher's chance. Now . . . he's a man without an issue.

Granted, that 'chance' was almost entirely predicated on being 'right' about the surge in Iraq and his ability to portray Barack Obama as a dangerous foreign policy novice whose election would lead to defeat in Iraq; a reversal of fortune since now we're 'winning'.

That chance is gone.

Prime Minister Maliki's statement, leaked by the White House on accident [thanks guys!] closes the door on the argument that a time-line would be 'reckless' and lead to 'surrender'.

Maliki endorses the plan of Barack Obama, the Bush Administration is negotiating with Iran & McCain is calling for more troops in Afghanistan. Seems as if everyone is adopting the foreign policy goals of the 'reckless' 'novice', Barack Obama.

What's left for John McCain to run on now--the economy? Good luck with that.

I'm not quite ready to say that McCain is screwed just yet. If by late-Sept.-early-Oct. Obama has solid leads in states like Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Colorado, New Mexico, and the other battleground states, then it would be time to bury him - along with the neocons and the GOP - ten feet under.

We Have a Biography of Kyle.

http://www.kyleanneshiver.com/about/

A number of readers have asked about my unusual name. The pure Anglo Saxon, usually male name, put together with a female Christian Saint name seems a bit confusing, I admit.

What number? 6? 7? 3?

My given name is “Kyle.” I took the name, “Anne,” when I converted to Catholicism at age 30, now 26 years ago. Saint Anne was the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Oh Lord she married Jeremiah.

It is written that Saint Anne and her husband, Saint Joachim waited nearly twenty years for the birth of their only child, and that when their blessed-among-all-women daughter was born, Saint Anne was past child-bearing age and had given up hope. The year my husband and I converted to Catholicism, we too had been waiting nearly ten years for the hoped-for arrival of a second child. Perhaps I took the name of Saint Anne, hoping that her intercessions would bring me a similar joy to hers. And within a few years’ time, my husband and I did indeed bear a lovely daughter to go with our ferocious son.

So...She took the name Anne in hopes of turning her husband on enough to get her pregnant. A bag may have also done the trick. As for wanting a daughter to go with your son...isn't that against the law?

Even though we had yearned for many children, God gave us only two. I tell our kids that He gave us quality, rather than the quantity we were seeking. And it is true; they are both admirable young people.

That's two too many but Kids have of over come worse things than racist ignorant parents. as for your quality not quantity statement...well you would know better than anybody I would imagine.

I use both names when signing my writing to signify for my readers both the fact that I am not male, but rather female, and that I am a Christian above all else.

So by reading the name Kyle-Anne we are suppose to say...wow she's a Christian.

My family tree is littered with artists, writers and a few musicians, and I spent all of my years as a full-time mom, supplementing our income with the sale of my paintings. My mother is an artist, and I learned to paint before I could read, so it came very naturally. Painting has been important and somewhat fulfilling, but writing is my passion.

Your family tree is also circular I would imagine. As for learning to paint before you learn to read is that really a big deal when you learn to read at the age of 42?

Fifteen years ago, I had a first novel published and really believed it would be a success; it wasn’t. For a decade I quietly wrote fiction that few people ever read, and piled up a nice collection of rejection slips. I might be piling them up still, if not for events far away and out of my control.

The hell you say! You wrote a book and no one read it? That should have given you a hint dear.

My life changed on September 11, 2001, our generation’s “Day of Infamy.” I had been on the front lines of the culture war every day raising our children, but when I saw those planes hit in NYC and DC, I was driven past grief to know how in the world we ended up in the mess we are in now.

How many fucking wars do we have going on in this country? and is this culture war the same one Ralph is fighting? it's amazing how many wars Conservatives will fight to keep from actually...you know? Fighting a war. Not only were you driven past grief you were driven past sanity.

I spent five years book-worming my way through the Koran and many other volumes about Mohammed and Islam. That took me into the political realm to learn all I could about the leaders whose fateful decisions seemed to weaken America’s defenses and empower the enemies of our civilization.

You could have had somebody else worm there way through it for you and given you a cliff notes version. As for "the leaders whose fateful decisions seemed to weaken Americas defenses and empower the enemies of our civilization" Fuck the Koran just read any legit biography of George W. Bush.

Finally, I put all else aside and devoted myself to reading and writing, using every ounce of my energy to apply my God-given common sense and forty years of Christian discipleship into the service of my Country through the power of the pen. This war will take many and varied soldiers to win; I hope to be one of them.

I sure don't know who who god gave the God-given common sense to Sister but it sure as fuck wasn't you. As for your forty year journey in to Christianity helping you serve your country with the pen that's great. There damn sure isn't any war you or your family would ever serve with a uniform and a bullet.

Call Me a Proud, Scared Conservative

By Kyle-Anne Shiver

First of all Kyle-Anne...are you a dude or a dudette? Both?

Since the day I visited Barack Obama's church home in Chicago last January, listened to Jeremiah Wright, read a slew of the books in the "church" bookstore and then most of what I could find on the abbreviated history of this candidate for the Presidency, I have believed that America as we now know it could completely cease to exist within a very short time under his leadership, especially with the bonus of a packed, liberal House and Senate. This is not an out-on-a-limb, slim possibility. It is, I believe, a strong probability.

Stop him...her...it...it's about to shit itself with fear.

Now Barack Obama is quite fond of disparaging what he has derisively labeled, "the politics of fear." Well, I'm a Mom, who has stood face to face with hordes of defiant teens and lived to tell about it, and I must say that I believe good ole fashioned "fear of God" to be one of the most beneficial and primary motivators of the human spirit.

Ok Kyle-Anne is a dudette I think.

Fear of God, fear of unpleasant consequence, fear of losing one's iPod, fear of failure, fear of taxpayer revolt, fear of public humiliation, fear of dire illness, fear of breaking one's neck, fear of prison, fear of dying. Fear of losing one's liberties. Fear of a sworn enemy. Fear of going to hell.

In its more positive form, this is called simply:

Piss poor writing? By the way... I fear God will steal my Ipod.

Safety First

This very positive force that innately urges all human beings to guard themselves from disasters, big and small, is one of the strongest protections we all have, and I'll not give mine up just because some fancy-dancy, highfalutin "talker" comes along and tells me it's a bad thing. And as far as I'm concerned, anyone who does bow to this Obama idiocy is fit for the loony bin and a tight-fitting straight jacket.

Or, put in another context, the former Barry Obama can have my safety-first fear when he pries it from my cold, dead hands.

And as far as I'm concerned, anyone who Reads and believes your bullshit about shitting yourself if a black man gets elected is fit for the loony bin and a tight-fitting straight jacket. fixed.

What's so scary about Barry?

Well, to be honest, some of what scares me about Barry and Michelle Obama in the White House does, in fact, have a little to do with the grains of truth in that now infamous New Yorker cover, showing Obama in Muslim garb and Michelle as a black militant with a machine gun, and the American flag burning in a fireplace.

So. Kyle Ann saw the New Yorker in Barnes And Noble and shit herself on the spot. That must have been quite a sight. Not to mention embarrassment.

Ah, where to begin?

Fuck after 5 paragraphs of this you're just starting now?

Let's start with the flag. Who would have ever suspected that Barack Obama holds America in less than perfectly high esteem, if he had not, in very fact, been so chummy all his years in Chicago with one of the most infamous, flag-burning, bomb-throwing, unrepentant domestic terrorists in United States history?

One Billy Ayers, who lives in Obama's neighborhood enclave of the rich and infamous, who served with him several years on the Woods Fund board, who channeled monies to far left, anti-American causes. Lest we forget, Billy Ayers is also married to one Bernadine Dohrn, who won a high leadership role in the SDS, claiming to be not a bland, mere socialist, but a revolutionary communist. The luminaries of America-hating, revolutionary communist groups that are backing Obama are myriad.

And good ole Kyle-anne doesn't give one flying fuck about the Bush's and McCain's know. Good God this woman multiplied. Excuse me for being...um uncouth... is there a man so desperate he would fuck this?

If Barack Obama has never been seen burning an American flag, he clearly doesn't hold it against any of his companions, who most certainly have burned our flag and done just about everything else they could to destroy this Country. In Ayers' book, Fugitive Days, which came out, by disgusting coincidence, on 9/11/01, he writes of the day he bombed our Pentagon in 1972:

Shit 1972!!! That's like last week!

"Everything was absolutely ideal. ... The sky was blue. The birds were singing. And the bastards were finally going to get what was coming to them."

Of course one paragraph out of context. This could be about the time him and Michelle went on a picnic and then got it on afterwards.

Who is Ayers speaking of so derisively here? Why, that would be us. The people of the United States of America.

So, if Barack Obama has so much difficulty understanding why an increasing number of Americans question his love for America, his patriotism, perhaps he should begin to question his own judgment when it comes to the company he keeps, instead of continuously questioning our judgment when we ask the questions.

Wait Obama didn't say this? then what is the point? As for the company Obama keeps...Bush bitch. Bush.

Then, there is the New Yorker's portrayal of Michelle as a black militant, sporting an Afro and giving Barack the fist bump.

I still say that was Amy Holmes.

Wasn't it Michelle Obama, who proclaimed not very long ago that "for the very first time in my adult life, I'm really proud of my Country"? And wasn't it Michelle Obama who says that Americans have become "cynical" and "mean," and that we have "broken souls"? Yes, actually Michelle Obama has said all these things while campaigning for her husband. And Mrs. Obama has said that her husband is our "only rational choice" for President. If all of these things do not imply a superiority to and condemnation of America, which have been the hallmarks of black militancy since the late 1960s, I simply do not know what would.

Kyle-Anne hates black women blah blah blah....

The fist bump itself seems to be an adaptation of the Black Panther power salute, so prominent in the 60s and 70s. It might appear completely innocuous to some, but to others, it is a memorable remnant of a very explosive and, for many, frightening period of American history. There are probably not too many Americans over the age of 50, who do not remember the black power moment at the Olympics of 1968 and the fear those raised fists could evoke in the shadow of American cities inflamed by riots and uncontrolled violence.

So Now Michelle Obama is a Black Panther AND John Carlos?Shit that's amazing. By the way it wasn't the social mis-justice nor cops over stepping their authority and brutally abusing human beings that lead to those riots and uncontrolled Violence that made Kyle-Ann shit her suburban panties...it was Carlos and Smith raising their fist. In Kyle Anne World everything was just peachy in 1968 until them uppity "N"iggers started raising their fist...and running for president.

Michelle Obama did sit with her husband in Jeremiah Wright's church for many years, listening unperturbed to racist diatribes aimed at every white-skin person in America. If I had sat listening to the rants of a David Duke for years on end and then gave my husband some form of the Nazi salute in public, I doubt seriously if it would be at all comforting to any decent American who witnessed it.

So now the Obama's are Nazi's? And what do you mean if you did?

There may be only a tiny grain of truth to the black militant image of Michelle Obama on the New Yorker cover, but even a tiny grain may be too much for some.

Now to the Muslim garb, worn by Barack Obama on the New Yorker cover.

It's a lie but it's a lie your skanky white ass will keep selling. You are scared.

Now to the Muslim garb, worn by Barack Obama on the New Yorker cover.

As even the New York Times has pointed out, whether Barack Obama has ever actually been a practicing Muslim, is of no real concern to us, as Americans. If he was, then it was under the authority of his parents, while living in a Muslim country, Indonesia, as a child.

Like how she spreads the fear here like she spreads the shit? By pretending not to be a biggot? And why do the right wings nuts keeping quoting the Times even though they never read it?

As the son of the Muslim father, Senator Obama was born a Muslim under Muslim law as it is universally understood. It makes no difference that, as Senator Obama has written, his father said he renounced his religion. Likewise, under Muslim law based on the Koran his mother's Christian background is irrelevant."

He's A Muslim!!! oh my God! Like Kareem Abdul Jabbar !!! Oh God! Some man fucked this? seriously?

And, as the same editorial goes on to confirm, this undeniable fact of Obama's birth religion, as seen by Islamists, does have a bearing, however slight, on this election, simply because we are still at war with Islamic terrorists around the globe.

He's a Muslim oh God what do we do? Lets shit ourselves!

Satire, like the New Yorker cover, can indeed be a powerful purveyor of ideas, and while the editors say they were intending to ridicule the unfounded fears of conservatives, it would seem to me, that all they have really done is add significant weight to the very grains of truth they have now highlighted for nearly every voter in the entire Country.

Wait maybe I am being unfair to Kyle-Anne. maybe like the new Yorker this is a joke piece put together as a joke to show how fucking stupid conservatives are.

Better late than never, I say.

Contrary to Senator Obama's admonitions against the "politics of fear," healthy fear is simply a terrific old, wise motto

Christ! This Woman is serious. I'll ask again. Some Guy procreated with this thing? Seriously why?

Better safe than sorry.

Late Edit by Jonathan: I can sum up this whole pointless article in GOP redneck language:
Beware of both them niggers - they can think!

This is really, really pathetic

Get ready to laugh your ass off. From National Review Online comes a top 10 list on why 'real men' (whatever the fuck that means) will vote for John McCain.

4. Obama wants restrictive gun control because only economically depressed middle-Americans “cling to God and guns.” McCain unwaveringly supports the Second Amendment.

It's humorous that these conservatives types are all for protecting the Second Amendment, but when it comes to defending the First and Fourth Amendments, plus habeas corpus from bills that violate such essential civil liberties needed to sustain our democracy, they're only too happy to join their leader in using it as their personal use of toilet paper.

7. Obama is married to a bitter, angry lawyer who became “proud” of her country for the first time this year. McCain’s wife is a beer heiress who founded an organization to provide MASH-style units to disaster-torn world regions. Did I mention that she’s a beer heiress?

Please, spare us the PG-rated racism and just call her 'one of them uppity Negroes', like I know you secretly think about Michelle Obama. Its basically saying the same thing.

9. The name John McCain sounds like “John McClain,” the action hero played by Bruce Willis in the manly Die Hard series. “Barack Obama” sounds like the kind of elitist villain John McClain has to outwit and defeat.

You know, I contend that these hard-core conservative types hang on to movie icons like John Rambo and John McClain because they would love to have had someone like that come to their elementary school and have a McClain beat the schoolyard bullies to a pulp for giving him shit all the time and making his like a living hell 24/7.

DJ Cat Is Confusing Spud

My dog Spud has had a pretty straight forward relationship with cats in his life. they beat the hell out of him. Hell Cats from around the neighborhood sneak in the yard and beat the hell out of him. And Spud for his part returns the favor by often ramming his head up their ass and pissing them off. So our newest kitty DJ cat has Spud really confused. DJ goes up to Spud and washes him. Spud doesn't know what to about it. He's tried roughing housing with DJ but he won't go for it. Making Spuds task of figuring him out even harder is DJ Cat out weighs him quite a bit. it's funny to watch.

You know you are dead on when the marxist, sodomite, nutroots who post here start the name calling!

What universe is Matt living in?

I fully understand that Matt Margolis is a partisan hack, but no partisan hack is this stupid.

George W. Bush and the Republicans in Congress successfully turn around a slumping economy, waged a war on terrorism, and passed all sorts of important legislation on education with bipartisan majorities…

Uh, Matt: you are aware that under the Clinton Economy, we experienced the creation of 18 million new jobs; unemployment dropped to 4.2% - the lowest rating in peacetime since 1957; we had a balanced budget and a federal surplus? And what's this nonsense about the GOP waging a war on terror? Under the Bush Administration, this country was lied into starting a war of choice, while taking our eyes off of the real perpetrators of 9/11(Osama Bin Laden, Al-Qaeda, and the Taliban ring any bells there?), and destroyed an entire country in five years. Exactly which of these accomplishments would you really want to boast and brag about?

Wait folks! It gets better from here:

Since the Democrats have returned the majority, the economy has slowed down, gas prices have gone up,

Please don't pin your president's fuck-ups on Congress. It's not the fault of a Democratic Congress that the economy is in a recession and gas prices are going through the roof.

Yet, Pelosi says Bush is the failure?

Under the Bush years the following have happened:
-a war sold to the Congress, the American people, and to our armed forces, based on false evidence that Saddam Hussein has Weapons of Mass Destruction. As a result, over 4,000 American troops have been sent to meat grinder, with countless Iraqi civilians killed, their country thrown in disarray, and a civil war re-ignited between two factions of Muslims; not to mention the primary focus taken off finding and hunting down those responsible for the 9/11 attacks and the resurgence of Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan.
-an economy that had a balanced budget and a national surplus under the Clinton Administration, now turned into a national debt, now a recession thanks to Bush's tax cuts to the wealthiest 1% of Americans. Oh and by the way: we owe China billions of dollars.
-the arm of partisanship extends to the Justice Department, firing nine U.S. Attorneys for not being loyal to the president.
-shredding the Constitution (the same one of which he swore on twice to uphold and defend) by passing laws that violate our nations right to privacy without a warrant, and the suspension of a person's right to the writ of habeas corpus, all done in the name of 'protecting the nation safe from the terrorists.'

To be fair, it isn't just Bush's leadership that has failed....it's also Nancy Pelosi's and Harry Reid's leadership that have been widely talked about, but rarely, if ever, seen in the halls of Congress.

Brent Rinehart's comic book targets foes

By John Estus
Staff Writer
The "liberal good ol' boys,” gays and Satan are doing everything they can to get Oklahoma County Commissioner Brent Rinehart out of office, a comic book prepared by his re-election campaign claims

The comic book, obtained Wednesday by The Oklahoman, is expected to be mailed to voters by Rinehart's campaign, Rinehart said.

"A drowning man tends to thrash about,” state Attorney General Drew Edmondson, one of the targets in the book, said through a spokesman. "Nothing Rinehart says is worthy of comment or rebuttal.”

Edmondson filed felony campaign finance charges against Rinehart last year, alleging Rinehart and his former campaign manager illegally funded the 2004 campaign for county commissioner. A trial has been scheduled for September.

Another of the book's targets, Sheriff John Whetsel, called it "extremely pathetic and very bigoted. I was taken back that in 2008, a candidate would use that type of inflammatory material and do it under the name of being a Christian.”

.....

An angel, a devil and county politics
Rinehart acknowledged that the comic is edgy at times, but said it explains important issues in a light-hearted way that his constituents will enjoy.

"It makes it interesting and something that people will actually look at and understand,” Rinehart said.

Toga-wearing gays, political figures, trench coat-clad henchmen, concerned residents and Rinehart round out the comic's cast.

"This is one of the strangest things I've ever seen,” said Keith Gaddie, a political science professor at the University of Oklahoma. "I've never seen a comic book with the phrase ‘anal sodomy' in it before. That was a new one for me.”

Gaddie said comics were common political campaign tools decades ago, but not for today.

"He's pretty much grinding every ax he's got from his days in the county commission,” Gaddie said. "In a way, it's a sophisticated piece.”

In one sequence, Satan says: "If I can get the kids to believe homosexuality is normal!”

The angel replies: "Hey Satan, not with Brent around you won't!”

Rinehart said he doesn't think the depiction is inappropriate and that he is proud of the comic.

"The history of my office is that I do expose the homosexual agenda, and that it does exist in the state of Oklahoma, and my history also would show that I am very much opposed to the homosexual agenda,” Rinehart said.

Rinehart said he spent two months writing the comic. He said his friend Shane Suiters did the illustrations. Rinehart wouldn't say who is managing his campaign, and wouldn't say if he's running it himself.

.....

Liberal good ol' boys' targeted in comic Others criticized in the comic, which was leaked via e-mail this week, joined Whetsel in condemning it as a distasteful hit-piece.

In the comic, Satan endorses Rinehart's opponents in the July 29 Republican primary for the District 2 county commissioner seat. The angel endorses Rinehart.

The strip opens with a proclamation that Rinehart is a Republican and Christian who stands up to "liberal good ol' boys” at the county courthouse.

"I do not know who the good ol' boys at the courthouse are,” said County Assessor Leonard Sullivan, a Republican.

Sullivan and Rinehart have had public disagreements in the past, and Sullivan said the comic is further proof that Rinehart is a troubled man.

"I've really encouraged him on more than one occasion to get professional help. He really needs it,” said Sullivan, who is not depicted in the comic.

Corporation Commissioner Jim Roth, who is gay and often disagreed with Rinehart while serving as a county commissioner, said he is no longer surprised by Rinehart's attacks.

"It's typical Brent Rinehart subterfuge to distract from his bad job performance and likely criminal misdeeds,” Roth said.

Roth is not targeted directly in the comic book. In a scene with five gay men holding up signs, one of the signs says "Jim Roth is our leader.”
