Lose your job? Poor? Lose your house...Continued...

Lose your job? Poor? Lose your house? Well the world is cheering as you suck just like they do now.

Of course the world isn't cheering anyone else's misfortune. What an arrogant attitude on your part, Batty. Nobody applauds unemployment or homelessness but the congenitally callous. But might there be some small element of schadenfreude-like appreciation, on some people's part, for Americans to be taken down a peg? Of course. I myself heard plenty of whining about high gas prices in the U.S., when for decades those prices have been artificially low compared to the rest of the world. And, even now, they still are. Filling my tank, for instance, currently costs me about $4 a gallon. It's useful for the U.S. to get a wake-up call and to realize that what looks like hardship from within looks like largesse from without. It provides perspective and empathy. But to compare that to some kind of global glee that American unemployment is high and homes are being lost, though...that's just sad and shortsighted and a complete mischaracterization.

Also, it makes you look damned idiotic to suggest that American criticism of BushCo has been responsible for tanking employment, the housing crisis, and the other myriad woes that the current administration inherited from its predecessors. Do you not understand the basic principles of cause and effect? It's the actors, not the audience, who determine how the play unfolds, no matter how loud the audience either boos or applauds. You're blaming the theatergoers for what's happening on the stage.

And that's just stupid, Batty.ethttp://rr-for-president.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3538186867576403896.post-27660480991563591202010-02-11T02:48:19.684-06:002010-02-11T02:48:19.684-06:00Where, oh where, to begin the debunkery?
90% of w...Where, oh where, to begin the debunkery?

90% of war critics comprise their argument of willful ignorance and or [sic.] just plain dishonesty.

Well, there's an unsupported assertion...until Batty goes through the full list of all Iraq war critics over nearly a decade and totes up the percentages, that is. Go for it! We'll wait. A while.

...cave in to the status quo, it amounts to fascism on a certain level.

All right, full grammarian points to Batty for using the compound verb "cave in" correctly. But in his eagerness to call all his detractors fascists...did anybody but me notice that he is, in fact, conceding that opposition to the Iraq adventure is in fact the prevailing, mainstream opinion, not some tangential quack sentiment?

It has nothing more noble in purpose than hating on George W. Bush...

OK, here we go - the familiar troll meme of "you guys are just all haters." A sad fallback. You can do better, Batty.

...the seeds of discontent you jackasses have sown in [sic.] the international stage since are sprouting up as our downfall.

Whoa, Nelly! Is Batty really, honestly suggesting that the whole world just loved America until Americans started voicing skepticism that maybe this Bush guy isn't following the most desirable path after all? Hate to break it to him, but global opinion of the U.S. isn't formed by the dialogue of its citizens, much less some perceived failure - as he sees it - of those citizens to present a cheering chorus of support. (If anything, most nations admire a culture that tolerates honest dissent. Maybe they looked at Bush's famous "free speech zones" and re-thought their opinion...ya think?)

No, the global view of America is formed by the actions arising from the U.S. government's foreign policy and the impact such policy has on other countries. Last I saw, during Bush's 8 years of error, that was something squarely in the hands of the "jackasses" in the White House, Cabinet, and various Federal agencies...not in those protesters peacefully holding candlelight vigils on street corners or writing impassioned letters to the editor.

You were determined to prove Bush was the worst President in history and that his policies would ruin America.

Sadly, we apparently weren't half as determined as he and his cronies were to prove that. Unfortunate that it should be among their few success stories.

Your criticism was not after the fact...

Why the hell should it have been? Saying "I told you so" accomplishes nothing. The time to speak up is when there is an opportunity to make a difference, not to moan and groan about water under the bridge and roads not taken.

...it was active in helping harm our interests.

You want fascism, Batty? You've just defined it: a populace that sits down and shuts up and dutifully claps for whatever the government does, however immoral or misguided most individuals (other than, apparently, you) might find it. Why do you want to abridge American citizens' freedom of speech?

How does it feel to be the architects of self fulfulling [sic.] prophecies of doom?

I wouldn't know. The only prophecies of doom I've heard lately have been from the likes of Dick Heart-of-Darkness Cheney and company, who seem determined first to undermine any effort by the current administration to rebuild America's global reputation for fair dealing and the primacy of diplomatic rather than military action; and second, above all, to keep the average American peering nervously under the bed for Islamic militants with explosives in their boxer shorts. hell-bent on taking away your guns and banning "American Idol."ethttp://rr-for-president.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.com
